It was great staying here.

Beautiful old building and gardens but unfortunately it’s not well maintained. The older rooms are good sizes but tatty, we had cobwebs and dust in the bathroom plus mildew on bedroom and bathroom windows. However the linen was lovely quality and it wąs quiet and warm for an older building. We won’t be returning.

Visited today for an afternoon tea. The whole experience was beyond expectation. The sandwiches were fresh and the scones and Brownie were amazing.The lemon posset was homemade and tangy. Some afternoon teas are huge and over facing but the amount on offer today was just right. Would definitely return

We took a party of 24 bridge players to this hotel and it was wonderful. The rooms were spacious, the grounds beautiful, the food very tasty and plentiful and the staff were wonderfully attentive. Bar prices were also very reasonable. I thoroughly recommend it!

Main areas look great, stylish and inviting Stayed in Strutt Suite, not worth the extra money. Balcony tatty, broken table, deck slippy and dirty, chairs covered in cobwebs and peeling paint - plant pot used as ashtray. Marks on walls, dirty windows, one needed sill repainting and other has broken arm so cannot be safely left open, broken tv. One day we had to complain as despite leaving Refresh Room on a locked door we returned after being out all day to find door unlocked but not tidied, receptionist couldn’t tell us if it was possible for room to be cleaned that same day

We arrived and were given the key to our room, which was very small window didn't close properly we only stayed 2 nights, when we returned after a day out went back to our room the bed wasn't made shower gel and shampoo not replaced, no tea,coffee,milk or bottles of water, when I went to reception and someone eventually appeared she said did I put out the door sign to refreshen the room I told her I didn't see any door signs she gave me some tea,coffee,milk and some biscuits. When I returned to our room, I found the sign under the fire exit information on the table, not inside the door like most hotels. When we was leaving I took our bags down to the car while my checked if we had everything we felt that we had to leave our room because the cleaner was waiting outside our room for us to go so she could clean it we did mention this when we booked out. Wasn't very impressed with the hotel or staff. We did ask about breakfast when we arrived, but she wasn't very sure about the price or if it was a buffet breakfast she said it shouldn't be more than £15.

We had the afternoon tea and it was very nice. Usual variety of sandwiches, scones and cakes but the countryside setting is lovely. Very relaxing. There is a option to add a glass of fizzy wine if you like but we found ig enough without. Several rooms ard used, with different styles and there is a bar to relax in afterwards.

On a arrival the receptionist never looked up from her computer, we said "We was there for afternoon tea," and she just said "It's in that room." So we went through were we stood around waiting for someone to come out to seat us. When the girl did come out and booked us in with a scowl on her face, and pointed to a table and said "Go over there." We wasn't the only ones who got treated like this, the other two tables one with a couple on and a couple of ladies on the other table experienced the same. We have been to plenty of afternoon teas, but this was definitely the worst one, and needs an overhaul as it was small and inadequate. You get about 1 teaspoon of raspberry jam and a small pot of cream and no butter, to share between two scones. An inch of bread cut with no crusts so about two slices filled with different fillings, no tomato or cucumber just a bit of green thrown over them, and these are for two people. Two small chocolate brownies, two small cakes which were awful and African violet jelly, which wasn't for us. There was four people plus us, and no one asked if everything was ok, or if we needed more tea or coffee. All in all very disappointed with the service and the afternoon tea, and definitely not worth the money. Which is a shame because the hotel is lovely and the grounds are beautiful.
