During our 14-day holiday in Port Ghalib we wanted to take a 3-day short trip to Luxor on our own. When we were planning ahead we decided on the Nile Valley Hotel in Germany - I had a room shown to me on a previous holiday and I think that you can go on holiday there with the family. We emailed them in English and received a prompt reply - in perfect German! (From Karin, the co-owner). I then asked if they could also organise the transfer from Port Ghalib - this request was also answered quickly and at a fair price - so off to Luxor. We were picked up on time by the taxi driver Taleb. Taleb speaks English and also takes on a bit of the role of tour guide - thank you for that. After about 4 hours we arrived safely and relaxed at the hotel via the Dandera Temple in Qena, which we wanted to see (absolutely worth seeing!). Here we were greeted warmly by the manager, Khairy, the owner. We went to our room and wanted to eat something first. You can do this in the hotel's own restaurant on the roof terrace - with a fairytale view over the Nile to the Luxor Temple directly opposite - impressive. Typical Egyptian dishes are served at fair prices. These are freshly prepared by the staff. Here again, a stroke of luck - the hotel team speaks English and is extremely friendly and focused on the well-being of the guests. Without being asked, we were brought 3 small plates for our 3 ordered dishes, so that we could all try everything - very attentive - great. After we had eaten, we looked around the small hotel and discovered the inner courtyard with the small pool. So - put on your swimming trunks and first jump into the "bathtub". The pool is small but big enough to swim a bit - and it also has small massage jets. Absolutely sufficient. After that, we wanted to look at the other side of the Nile. This is where the central location comes into play - the taxi boats to the other side of the river leave directly in front of the hotel. It couldn't be better - everything is within walking distance. Here, too, there is support from the hotel team - they give information about the prices of the crossing so that you don't pay overpriced prices. Although the location is very central, it is very quiet at night and we were able to sleep well. The next morning came the next surprise - the breakfast buffet - small but extensive - that is to say, everything is there, just not so much of it - it's only a small hotel, if everything is gone, they just refill it. Coffee, tea, juice, fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, sausage, fool, omelette, etc. If you can't find anything here... the whole hotel is very well maintained and clean and is in no way inferior to the luxury hotels. The service for individual travelers is even a little better, as support can be given for all planned excursions. We enjoyed a great stay.
