We were lucky enough to be served by Paige, for dinner! Absolutely fabulous, fun and also so knowledgeable about the building. Amazing and attentive absolute credit to your business. Really good food service and lovely food as well, greta and experience.

Approach to Milton hill is lovely well sign posted as were the disabled parking. Beautiful entrance and smelt lovely. Staying on a Secret Escapes break we were delighted we stayed in the house, room 406 . Great views of the back of the Great Park . Squirrels, deer ,rabbits and a plethora of birds . The room a good size updated bathroom was good with a sensible wardrobe case stand and equipped with iron ,hairdryer and ironing board tea and coffee and tinned water nice touch . It in places needed a little tlc but the views compensated for a bit of missing paint . Dining room with its side dining areas had great views too though again the main area is a little dated but served its purpose.. Food was from the normal menu with price adjustment if you go over the set allowance. This is by far the best way of doing it ,why other places don't do this I don't know . A word about staff they whilst obviously were under pressure maintained an excellent level of service ,attention and please take some cash down to dinner and tip good service. Our servers were almost shocked we cash tipped them saying it's now a rare occurrence. This bring me on to lost stars firstly it needs a coat of paint in places desperately the building has some beautiful features but look tired . Secondly the bar floor is a disgrace wooden floor scratched to obliteration . Seems small observations ? Yes they are but detail to the discerning guest is a huge part of a enjoyable stay . And finally the old cash chestnut . They don't take payment in cash it should be our choice not the establishment. Now a word about the spa nice pool not big with 10 people in it it felt full, steam and sauna again compact but adequate shame jacuzzi wasn't working but hey things go wrong changing room (male) too small lockers faulty .So in brief take cash, tidy public areas and I would have given five stars happily. I also would if given a" in the house" room do a return visit to do an update review

This hotel markets itself as a Country House Hotel and Spa and whilst this wouldn't breach the Trades Description legislation the premises are fairly rundown and could do with a significant upgrade. From events around the hotel it was apparent that they specialise in training events for third parties. We booked 3 nights on a B&B basis. Our standard room was located in an annex which from the outside is an unattractive concrete box. The room was small but clean with a small wardrobe and only one bedside table drawer. We requested a bathrobe from Reception which was provided. The teatray, when refreshed, never had more than two teabags and a decaffeinated one. Further supplies could be order from Reception if required - buy why? You had to request your room be made up and this was done diligently. We had booked dinner on the first night and this was a significant disappointment. The quality of the food was poor. We both ordered the Chicken Schnitzel which was nothing more than a large chicken nugget. Not requiring breakfast, usual cost £16, on the second morning we asked for an allowance against the dinner, no one at the hotel was able to approve this as the manager was not on duty. Our request was eventually declined when we paid the bill. We did not eat again in the hotel, other than the breakfast on the final morning. The staff whilst generally pleasant and helpful were very young and in experienced.

When you arrive you go into a grand building, reception and adjacent rooms walls panelled in wood and look good. Don’t get your hopes up as beyond this is a shabby building so much in need of some maintenance and care. Windows in the front of the dining room being held in by a wing and a prayer with most of the putty missing is just one example. If you are accommodated in the garden wing you would be better turning round and leaving. You go out through the garden to be met by a prison block ! Rooms very basic and hot, and doors bang shut. At 5:30 in the morning was woken up by constant door noise then the cleaners came through about an hour later vacuuming carpets in the entrance. Breakfast was 2nd rate at best, flaccid, barely cooked bacon that was more like sliced belly pork with more fat than meat, tasteless sausages that although looking good with visible cracked pepper tasted of nothing. Even the baked beans were struggling to give any taste ! The restaurant area is little better than a motorway services. All in all a very disappointing experience, I’m sure there are a lot better premises in the area for the same price. I guess profit rules over investment of time and materials to keep the buildings in order and a similar story with quality of food at breakfast. There are many replies to reviews quoting that the attention of the leadership team would be drawn to such matters but that is either not happening or they are not taking any notice.

Having read the last few reviews, we were expecting Faulty Towers, and were pleasantly surprised! We chose a room in the main house, room 406, and we had a nice view over the grounds. The room needed a little tlc, and a deep clean, but the bed was clean and comfy. The evening meal was quite acceptable, and not expensive. Breakfast had been criticised in previous reviews, so we made sure we got up early and it was really nice! Wide choice and the cooked items were hot. Finally, all the staff were really friendly, with the restaurant staff working extremely hard!

The inn, while pretty, was a bit of a disaster operationally. Staff very kind, but couldn’t overcome the service setbacks. Staff a bit confused. Lunch advertised in the bar at noon on Saturday and Sunday but I had to force the issue because they were serving a luncheon for conference in the dining room and the kitchen was but quite busy I pressed the issue and was served, but quite slow. Breakfast buffet meh. Lunch not available, and dinner service and room service from 6-9. Breakfast ends promptly at time advertised, and foods not replaced during the last hour of operation. Not many other choices available in the area, though. So, this is probably the best the area has to offer. Rainy, cool September stay found the rooms quite stuffy. Comfortable bedding, but comforter was too heavy for the season. The rooms were musty, as you may expect in an inn this age. Opening windows offered relief, but noisy crows were unpleasant for sleeping. Jacuzzi out of service for the first 3 days of my stay. Very stingy with towels. No phone in the room You must have a car as the roadways are quite treacherous for walking. No sidewalks.

The advert showing a white stately hall type hotel with a spa looked inviting. On arrival we were told there was no spa due to a "health and safety" issue, but after looking around this delapidated building I suspect it was like most other things - just broken and neglected. We tried to go for a swim, but since every locker door lock was broken there was no way of safely leaving valuables, the showers had old disguarded underwear and broken mouldy tiles, so we gave up on that idea and went back to the basic room. There was at least 1 wedding on, possibly 2, so all the nice public areas were a no go for paying hotel guests. The £108 a night spa break ended up being just like a badly maintained travel hotel staying in a prefab concrete bunker with leaking cielings. Breakfast was very poor standard of quality and so dry and stale it looked like it had been prepared by the chef the night before. Advice - Stay away. Its not as the advert looks in the advert and is poorly managed and maintained.
