Der gebuchte Schottenturm (4 Sterne) war für uns bedingt durch eine steile Außentreppe und steile Innentreppen in die 2. und 3. Etage absolut ungeeignet. So mussten wir gezwungenermaßen - zum gleichen Preis - im Gästehaus (3 Sterne) übernachten. Die winzige Dusche bot kaum Ablagemöglichkeiten. Das Zimmer war laut, weil nebenan gebaut wurde. Wir stornierten die 2. Nacht, kein Entgegenkommen, weder für das Downgrade noch für die Stornierung.

A gem of a find en-route from Austria to the UK. The village is very quiet with very little to offer, but if you want a place to stay the night with exceptional dining, don’t miss this place. We had booked a room in the guest house part of the hotel which is on a lower part of the grounds, on the village square, not so good if you don’t want to do stairs, but we were asked if we’d like to move into the tower building instead. This is in the main courtyard on the upper level. It was a lovely room with a 6ft bed. The rooms further up the tower would have a better view of the surrounding countryside but we were more than happy. The surprising thing about this establishment is the dining experience. The hosts Christian and IIona Schneider, have a long history in the hotel, food and beverage and cruise ship hotel management and housekeeping department, so they know what they are doing. Dinner was EXCEPTIONAL! A self taught chef who learned his trade watching the last chef though he was there originally only as kitchen staff. It was asparagus season and wow, it didn’t disappoint. The waiter-though I’d be more inclined to call him a Maitre D, was utterly charming and knew his stuff. Breakfast is fantastic with a buffet style offering. Coffee is served by your waitress. Everything about this establishment is wonderful. If you need a place to stay for a night on a trip through Europe, do not miss out on here.

Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt von der ersten bis zur letzten Minute! Das Turmzimmer ein romantisches Kleinod mit tollem Ausblick, viele Infos zu Burg und Historie von den supernetten Betreibern! Meine Verlobte wurde mit Geburtstags-Cremant überrascht und das 4-Gänge-Menu á la Bonheur!! Das argentinische Entrecote zum Zunge schnalzen und durchgehend zart und rosa! Wir sind so angetan, dass wir in zwei Wochen gleich wieder hinfahren werden!👍👍

War mit einer Gruppe zu Gast; haben im rustikalen Gewölbekeller ein sehr reichhaltiges Ritteressen genossen; das Spannferkel war perfekt präsentiert. Die nächtliche Burgführung mit Fackeln war ein Erlebnis. Das Frühstücksbuffet war schön präsentiert und reichhaltig

Hervorragende Location, überaus fröhliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeber, äusserst gepflegte Verköstigung, Gourmetküche! Ideal für Hochzeiten oder Golfspieler (Platz sehr nah). Interessante, in die Anlage integrierte Museen.

Das Schloss- bzw. Burghotel Abenberg ist wahrlich das erste Haus am Ort. Die Burg thront nicht nur über der kleinen Altstadt, sie liegt auch weithin sichtbar in der schönen Landschaft. Das Hotel ist liebevoll in die alten Gebäude integriert. Die Zimmer sind schön eingerichtet und gut ausgestattet. Das Restaurant ist Abends, wie zum Frühstück zu empfehlen. Am besten ist aber natürlich die tolle Atmosphäre.

Wir haben mit Freunden zu Filmaufnahmen für Leben im Mittelalter, Buhurt und Turnier vom 12. bis 15. Mai am Turnierplatz der Burg gelagert. Am Sonntag waren ca. 700 Besucher vor Ort, die sicher den Umsatz des Burg-Restaurant positiv beeinflußt haben. Wie ich von Freunden erfahren habe, die in hochwertiger mittelalterlicher Gewandung das Restaurant wegen 2 Stck. Cappuccino aufgesucht hatten, wurden diese nicht bedient. Das ist ein no go der Gastfreundlichkeit.

Es war ein wunderschöner Abend. Ich feierte meinen Geburtstag mit insg. 7 Personen. Es gab ein 4 Gänge Menue mit allem, was man sich vorstellen kann. Es war sehr lecker, der Wein vorzüglich, der Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, unsere Wünsche wurden alle erfüllt. Meine Gäste waren äußerst zufrieden und für mich war es ein gelungener Geburtstagsabend. Herzlichen Dank, liebe Familie Schneider!
