"We stayed from 31 December to 2 January, and it was a truly lovely experience. The staff were exceptional — every single person was warm, kind, and welcoming. The manager was especially wonderful, and even her two dogs added such a homely, comforting touch. We felt safe at all times, which meant a lot, especially over New Year’s Eve. Our room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully kept. We also enjoyed excellent wine during our stay. The location is fantastic — within walking distance of Galata, Galata Tower, and Karaköy, and on the 31st we were able to walk safely to the Karaköy waterfront to watch the fireworks."

"The hotel seemed decent at first glance, but the price is significantly inflated. Our room was on the 14th floor, thanks to the reception. Upon entering, we found a broken mug and glass, which were only replaced on the third day. The staff tries very hard, to the point where it feels overbearing, almost like you're being watched. The bed was uncomfortable because the mattress was old and saggy, with two thick, mismatched mattress toppers piled on top, making it feel like sleeping on lumps. The carpet in the room was dirty, and the windows were filthy. The hygiene product bottles were old, with worn-off labels, indicating they're not replaced but simply refilled. This is unappealing, and it's unclear what they're refilling them with. The location is convenient. The staff is friendly, but getting information about where things are, like the cafe, pool, and sauna opening hours, was difficult. Breakfast for all 8 days was monotonous and very sparse. Common areas, however, were clean throughout."

"I arrived in Istanbul alone, and as a solo female traveler, I felt incredibly safe in this area. So, if any other female travelers are reading this, I wholeheartedly recommend this neighborhood. The only 'harassment' you'll encounter is from restaurant touts, but that's normal everywhere. All the main and most beautiful attractions are nearby. In the evenings, you can walk to the seaside (a 3-minute walk) and sit by the water. There are several mini-markets close by, lots of restaurants, and terraces with views of the Blue Mosque. The staff were very responsive. I don't speak English at all, but the reception immediately understood and we communicated using a translator. The shower faucet in my room was broken, and as soon as I mentioned it, they immediately moved me to another room (even better, with a sea view!). A minor drawback was that I had a lot of ants appear twice in my room. I'm not sure what it was, but the staff responded quickly and disinfected. I'm not going to nitpick and ruin the hotel's rating, so I'm still giving it a 5-star review, but I do recommend addressing the insect problem. Safety, both in and around the hotel, was one of the most important factors, and I felt completely comfortable!"

"This 5-star hotel feels quite old, and the furniture is clearly well-used. I honestly don't think it deserves a 5-star rating; based on the wear and tear I saw, I'd give it a 3. It's dated, with some broken items, and the shampoo and soap were budget-friendly, which isn't what I'd expect from a 5-star hotel. The soap even fell apart after one use! I also had to pay 400 Lira per day for parking. On the positive side, the breakfast was excellent, with daily changing main dishes, and the service was impeccable, as was the room cleaning. I booked this hotel expecting a renowned international chain. I stayed for 3 days."

"The hotel boasts a good location, very close to the T1 tram station. It's within walking distance to the mosque and Hagia Sophia. There's a coffee shop nearby, which is a great option for breakfast if your stay doesn't include it. There's also a Kash handmade soap shop close by, perfect for souvenirs. I booked the most basic room type. The room was quite small, but the bathroom was huge, which made for a strange layout. It did have a balcony though. My friend's room layout was more standard. Around 6:30 AM, the call to prayer was extremely loud. I didn't know about it the first day and it woke me up with a start. The night shift receptionist was handsome and very nice. He was happy to answer all our questions and even gave us good advice on where to exchange money. He was very helpful with directions. There are plenty of dining options nearby. Aside from the small room, everything else was great."

"Overall, my stay at this hotel was excellent. The location was perfect, the facilities were outstanding, and the hotel offered a very convenient feature: the basement level is directly connected to two shopping malls, which made shopping and dining extremely easy. The rooms, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere met the standards expected from a five-star hotel, and I was very satisfied with most aspects of my stay. However, my main concern was the reception staff. I found their attitude unprofessional and unfriendly. For a five-star hotel, I expected a warmer welcome and more courteous communication. The staff rarely smiled and sometimes spoke in a rough manner. One particular incident was disappointing. I asked a receptionist whether the minibar items were complimentary or chargeable, and I was told in a dismissive way that they were free. However, during checkout, I was informed that the minibar items were not free and I was charged approximately $60. This created an unpleasant ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay. Despite this issue, the hotel itself is very good, but I believe the reception team’s professionalism and communication need improvement to match the quality of the property."

"This is a great small hotel. Our first choice was the room – when we initially booked, we liked the Deluxe room, which had modern renovations and soundproofing (which was very helpful). Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a room on the 4th floor with a street view (thank you for that), and the room matched the photos and our expectations; we were comfortable. I'd like to mention the wonderful bed with a soft mattress, crisp white linens, and clean towels, which were changed daily. When booking hotels in Sultanahmet, it's crucial to pay attention to soundproofing, otherwise you risk not getting a good night's sleep. This wasn't an issue here. The breakfasts were also excellent, everything I love at home – scrambled eggs and omelets of various kinds, coffee and juices, olives, cheeses, cottage cheese, honey, Nutella, and Turkish pretzels. Every morning, furry friends joined us for breakfast. One of the playful cats was named Artist, so say hello to him! ;) And most importantly, the location – we explored the streets in every direction, it was a fascinating experience! Topkapi and Hagia Sophia are just a stone's throw away. It was a pleasant experience in Istanbul, and I send my regards to all the staff at the Royan Suite Hotel! :)"

The rooms were, as always, very comfortable, and the bathroom system was excellent. The hotel view was also beautiful, especially from the breakfast restaurant, in the innermost corner, where you can see the strait – truly a delightful breakfast experience. If I had to pick a downside, it would be the surprisingly strict security check to enter The Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul, where both people and bags have to be scanned! I later found out that many diplomats stay here… so… you get it. The hotel provided various chocolates, as shown in the picture. The toiletries cost 45 Euros per bottle if you take them home, but you can use them freely inside the hotel. There were many old maps of Istanbul in the hallway, and my child spent a long time studying them with great interest.

This hotel boasts a distinctive Turkish design throughout. The building we stayed in had a small inner garden with a bar, which was lovely. Unfortunately, we visited in winter when it was too cold, so we couldn't truly enjoy the garden's ambiance. I imagine it would be very pleasant to sit there in the summer or when the weather is milder. The hotel's location is absolutely superb. It's about a 2-minute walk to Hagia Sophia, 2-3 minutes to the Blue Mosque, and 5-10 minutes to the Basilica Cistern. Most of the main attractions are concentrated nearby. We did almost all our sightseeing on foot: Hagia Sophia in the morning, then the Basilica Cistern, back to the hotel for a rest, off to a museum, another break in the room, and then the Blue Mosque. The entire itinerary felt very relaxed and convenient. You can also walk to the Grand Bazaar and Süleymaniye Mosque, so the location is a huge plus. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which was quite spacious and comfortable. However, there were a couple of drawbacks: firstly, the ceiling was a bit low, which made it feel a little confining after a while; secondly, while the window could open, it only opened a small amount, and there was an ornate design outside, so the overall natural light and ventilation felt a bit lacking. Additionally, our room was close to a small street below, and the noise was quite noticeable. There were staff activities during the day, and pedestrians passed by in the evenings and early mornings, making it generally quite noisy. This was a significant downside of our stay. I suspect rooms closer to the inner garden would be much quieter. There's a Chinese restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. The food was average, but it's an option for Chinese cuisine when abroad. There are other restaurants nearby, but we didn't try them all this time. It's worth noting that vehicles cannot pull up directly to the hotel entrance; they have to park in a nearby parking lot. Drivers contact the hotel in advance, and the hotel arranges a shuttle service, which was generally well-organized. Overall, the hotel's biggest advantages are its prime location and its distinctive design. It's ideal for those who want to explore the main attractions of the Old City extensively on foot. If you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend prioritizing rooms facing the inner courtyard or garden.

The hotel is beautiful, and the restaurant is also fantastic! But the right side of the hotel is next to a nightclub, which is just awful. I chose a superior room, and everything was great! But the music blared until 5am! We arrived from another country late in the evening and couldn't sleep all night because of the nightclub's blaring music. Our balcony overlooked the nightclub.😂, and we could hear the music in our room as if we were on the dance floor ourselves.🕺🏽💃🏻 The next day, I asked to change to a quieter room. They gave us a standard room, which was smaller than the square meter and had no dressing room or bathroom, but we were complimented with Turkish sweets and fruit. (Remember, I paid for a superior room.) The hotel is very aromatic; there are aroma stations in the hallways, and by the second day, the smell was making me feel sick. The breakfasts are incredible. Novikov is Novikov, even in Africa ❤️🔥  The bar in the evening is superb! The restaurant staff are lovely and always smiling💓 Just don't take rooms on the right side of the hotel.
