Anonymous UserA hotel I absolutely adore, perfect for a vacation. The three-bedroom apartment features 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, and 2 bathrooms, with one en-suite bedroom. The living room has large balconies on both sides; one faces Lake Taupo directly, while the other overlooks the hotel's thermal pool. Restaurant: The buffet breakfast includes a buffet spread and a la carte main courses. The buffet selection itself is already very rich.

Posted on Jul 22, 2026|Standard Triple Cabin Room With Shared BathRoom
Guest UserIt's a small cabin, and the room itself is tiny; I struggled to even open my 29-inch suitcase. It felt more like a student dorm. The bathroom and shower are separate, requiring a walk outside to get to the shared kitchen, bathroom, and shower facilities. This could be quite inconvenient if it's raining or cold. You can park right outside your door, but you can hear noise from the neighboring rooms. The staff kindly provided free plates and pots for cooking in the kitchen, but you do need to ask for them. The bathroom and shower facilities also require a password to enter.

Flora121788The environment here is beautiful, and the service is attentive. Not only is the front desk friendly and enthusiastic, but there are also pre-laid electric blankets under the beds in the rooms, making chilly winter nights truly warm. Of course, there are also large heaters on the room walls, which is great.
I really like the cabins here; they are very comfortable to stay in. There's a wooden chair in the entryway, perfect for sitting and enjoying fruits and snacks, and you can even stargaze at night.
Hot Water Beach is just a ten-minute walk away. When we arrived, the low tide had already ended, and the area where we could dig for hot water was occupied by surging waves. However, back at the hotel, there's a hot water pool, which was a perfect substitute and felt wonderful.
Early the next morning, I took a hot shower while still in my swimsuit and continued to soak in the hot water pool, which was very relaxing. Later, two girls arrived, waiting for the regular pool to open for a swim. The large pool is closed at night to maintain cleanliness, and the cover is slowly retracted by equipment in the early morning.
I tested the water temperature; although steam was rising from the large pool, the water felt quite cold. Watching the girls swim around, I gradually entered the water from the shallow end, and after swimming a lap, my body adjusted. Floating quietly on the water, like duckweed, watching the clouds in the sky, light and ethereal.
It was a thirty-minute drive from the hotel to Cathedral Cove, and the scenery was breathtaking. The evening beach, illuminated by the sunset, was so quiet and peaceful, with an ethereal quality that transcended time. In the distance, where the blue and pink sky met the sea, a faint full moon had already climbed into the sky, creating a hazy atmosphere.
My nineteen-year-old son and I slowly made our way down the mountain path to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. The restaurant there was still open and busy with many customers, chatting warmly under the soft yellow lights.
We ordered beef brisket stew and fish and chips. After eating our fill, we drove back to the hotel. The mountain road has many turns, so we drove carefully and slowly at night, without having to rush.
I really like this hotel; it exceeded my expectations. I will definitely come again and recommend it to my friends.

We had a night here to recharge and the hotel and hot pools really delivered. The hotel is immaculately clean, and while it is a little dated, as you would expect being a historic hotel, we were really comfortable - beds were good, we slept well and it was quiet. The hot pools are a hidden gem that really blew us away, we had them largely to ourselves and we soaked our fatigue and sore muscles away, in lush bush surroundings, with the sound of the waterfall in the background, native birdsong and the sounds of summer cicadas. We'll be back.

I stayed here with my mum and brother in a kitchen cabin. The cabin itself was quite basic and very small – fine for one night, but it would feel too cramped for a longer stay.
That said, the campsite itself is lovely and the swimming pools were an absolute highlight. We really loved them and would happily stay here again just for the pools alone.
Next time, I’d definitely upgrade the accommodation to something more spacious. An on-site café would also be a great addition and would really enhance the overall experience.

A good first stop over for our campervan trip as it is 1hr away from auckland airport. We checked in after opening hours (they close pretty early) but we could easily find our way and the check in instructions were clear and easy.
Plenty of flies attracted to light at the campsite. Our camper was filled with flies and spent a long time chasing them away. So do be careful when turning on the lights when moving in and out of the camper.

Был большой номер с огромной кроватью, а главное - купель с минеральной водой прямо в номере. Интерьер специфический, но все чисто.
