This was my second stay, and it was just as clean and comfortable as before. Though, I'm not sure why there was no Oden for breakfast this time. What I love most is the hotel's location. It's right next to Kyoto Station, yet surprisingly quiet, and also very close to the 206 bus stop, which takes you directly to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple. After a long day of sightseeing, a soak in the bath on the 10th floor is incredibly relaxing. We rented kimonos and chose to return them at the hotel; the front desk was very helpful in taking care of them, so the service was excellent. You can also rent curling irons, but a 3000 JPY cash deposit is required.

Walking distance to Kyoto station & has a lot of family marts/ 7 Elevens near by, the hotel staff were also very nice and attentive. The bathrooms were a bit small but other than that a very nice stay! A lot of bus stops near by too. Bus 9 & 28 stop right by the hotel

Impeccably clean and comfortable, offering a perfect onsen experience. The Japanese tatami room was surprisingly spacious, with a cleverly designed bathroom featuring a separate wet and dry area, giving it a modern feel. Its proximity to Kyoto Station makes it incredibly convenient.

This was our favourite hotel from our whole trip (Tokyo,Kyoto, Osaka). It felt traditional but modern and very clean with no shoes allowed inside. It was great having a separate space for the parents in the room and it came complete with all the amenities. It’s close to the station, onsen and the best massage chair we’ve ever used on site to relax after a full day of exploring and had unlimited icecream/ yakult/ drinks plus ramen too. Will definitely book this again for future trips.

This European-style hotel is centrally located in Kyoto, close to the subway and bus stops. Downstairs, you'll find restaurants, convenience stores, and a Starbucks. It's also not far from Nishiki Market and the shopping street, making it an excellent location. There's a free spa on the top floor, perfect for relaxing after a long day. The hotel even has its own chapel. Special praise goes to the breakfast, which offers a wide variety of options, including ice cream! The service staff are also very friendly and approachable.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just about a ten-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station and a mere five minutes from Aeon Mall, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and subway and Kintetsu stations are also nearby. The hotel breakfast is also great, offering a good variety of both Japanese and Western options, and the service is very attentive. The public bath, however, is quite small. I was hoping to soak there every evening to relax, but on my second night, I encountered someone bizarrely scrubbing their feet and legs in the pool! I was so disgusted I immediately fled and never went back. Luckily, there's a bathtub in the room, so I ended up using that instead. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money, and I'm very satisfied! 🈵

We had a wonderful stay at this ryokan! The hosts were incredibly helpful and kind, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The location was very convenient — close to public transport and within walking distance of local attractions. The ryokan itself offered a truly authentic Japanese experience, with traditional tatami rooms and a peaceful atmosphere. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we appreciated the option to store our baggage before check-in.

I brought my parents to Kyoto and we stayed at this hotel. The triple room was incredibly spacious, much larger than the double rooms I've stayed in before. It was clean and tidy, with excellent hygiene. The private onsen comes highly recommended! My parents also had a fantastic stay. All in all, it's a perfect score! Service: Check-in was at 3 PM, and the front desk service was thoughtful and thorough. They explained the hotel facilities very clearly. (If you don't speak Japanese, there are staff who speak English.) Facilities: It's a very traditional Japanese-style room, which my parents loved. The public bathing area was also very clean, and the private onsen was super comfortable. The hotel signage was clear, and every detail was meticulously thought out – really impressive! Breakfast: The buffet breakfast offered a wide and diverse selection, with both Western and Japanese options, and plenty of delicious desserts! We were absolutely stuffed~

1. The room rate was incredibly expensive, over HKD 10,000 per night for a family of four, but it felt absolutely worth every penny! 2. Our room overlooked the river, offering a peaceful and beautiful view. 3. The semi-open-air private onsen (hot spring) was huge, easily accommodating three adults at once. 4. The 'one-night, two-meals' package was fantastic; every dish was exquisite, and dinner even included seasonal snow crab!

We booked a Japanese family room and we arrived about 6:00 pm. Our room was on 3rd floor, when the lift door opens, a strong fishy smell. The corridor were not air conditioned and it was hot. Our room is at the corner, had a stale atmosphere. It still summer and weather is incredibly hot, it would be helpful if the staff had prepared the room and cool it before we arrived. AC is not working well, the room was still not cool when we slept. We could not rest well. The mattress & bedding were not comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Overall it’s not worth a night for SGD423.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

MM478172****The room facilities were excellent and very clean, and they even offered a welcome service. There's a FamilyMart just 70 meters from the room, which was super convenient for late-night snacks. The set breakfast was also delicious. However, the reception was a bit hard to find and had limited hours (10:00-20:00). We wanted to store our luggage after self-check-out at 10:00 AM, but the reception wasn't open. We waited for a long time with no one responding, so we ended up having to store our bags at the train station. This was a really bad experience for us.

HHaininglujiWhat a pleasant surprise this hotel was! The attention to detail is truly exceptional, and the service is incredibly warm and welcoming. The hotel's cleanliness is impeccable. They also have a rooftop open-air bar where you can soak your feet while enjoying the scenery and a drink – it's absolutely wonderful, especially in the dead of winter. Plus, there's an outdoor hot spring, which is very clean and offers great views. They provide complimentary coffee, matcha, hot chocolate, sparkling drinks, and cold beverages, all available for unlimited consumption every day. I highly recommend the hot chocolate with ice cubes; it's so rich and delicious. The hotel's location is superb. Takashimaya is right outside, and there are tons of great restaurants nearby. It's also very close to all the major attractions. Aside from the room being a bit small, everything else was absolutely perfect. I'll definitely choose to stay here again whenever I visit Kyoto.

MMumutu0417My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

GGuest UserThe surroundings and the village are very pleasant. The hotel itself offers an interesting experience, staying in a rather dilapidated building with minimal amenities. You can really get a sense of what it might have been like to travel in Japan in the second half of the 20th century. Everything is very old and outdated, but that just adds to the charm. The onsen is nice, and I especially enjoyed the round outdoor bath. However, I really didn't enjoy the breakfast or dinner. The staff were acceptable, but I wasn't a fan of the main administrator or whoever that person was – very overly familiar, insincere, and affected. There's no value for money here. I definitely wouldn't go back a second time. But overall, I don't regret the experience.

AAnonymous UserOur recent stay at Ujo Soan was, without exaggeration, the finest hospitality experience I have encountered in my 20 years of traveling across Japan. From the moment we arrived, the level of service was nothing short of superb. There are three highlights that made our stay truly unforgettable: 1. Exceptional Culinary Surprise: We were deeply touched by the hotel's generosity in providing a complimentary upgrade to the prestigious ”Tsuiyama Blue Label Crab” set. The quality of the crab and the meticulous preparation were world-class—a true gastronomic journey. 2. Breathtaking Sunset Views: Spending time at the Lounge ”AO” on the 8th floor of Bettei Fuka was a spiritual experience. Watching the sunset over the Kyotango coastline with a drink in hand is a memory we will cherish forever. 3. Outstanding Service (Sakura-san): A special mention must go to Sakura-san. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were exemplary. She anticipated our every need and represents the very best of Japanese Omotenashi. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mr. Yasuhiko Okita and the General Manager, Mr. Nakanishi, for maintaining such an incredible standard of excellence. If you are looking for a sanctuary that combines luxury, nature, and heartfelt service, Ujo Soan is the only choice. We cannot wait to return.

GGuest UserWe took a taxi to this location because it was a little too far by bus, and we had all of our luggage with us. The location is beautiful. If you're only staying for one night like we did, then you should check in at the earliest (3:00 pm) so you can explore the local area. There are some really nice shrines nearby. We were only able to do this after breakfast the next morning. We also had to be out by 10:00 am, which surprised us because it was listed as 11:00 am on Trip.com. You will be served traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They do an excellent job of presenting all of the dishes, and the service is also incredible. But if you're not used to eating raw fish, or traditional Japanese cuisine in general, you should definitely bring your own snacks to eat in your room! We stayed in the Garden view room with tatami mats. The staff will actually rearrange the room for you during dinner and set up your beds if you select this room. That was a very nice touch, so make sure you don't leave your room a total mess before dinner! I have added a picture of the beds after they were set up. The garden view was well worth the money we spent for it. Very relaxing and beautiful. And surprisingly enough...the tatami beds were super comfortable and warm!
