richie03I stayed for 5 nights, and first of all, the price is very reasonable for a backpacker hostel. Check-in is done online: you choose your language, scan your passport, and have a f2f call with the staff via an iPad. FYI, there is a mandatory accommodation tax in Japan of 100 yen per night. You can also request a paid ”Irori” service at a nearby sister branch, where you can grill your own ingredients over a traditional Japanese sunken hearth. Just a reminder: you can get fresh ingredients from the nearby market ”Family Store Satoh” or further away at ”Surugaya Asumo.”
The common area isn't huge, and the kitchen is basic but functional with tableware, an electric kettle, ovens, a microwave, and a mini fridge. The tap water is drinkable; the mixer tap can be toggled to adjust the temperature, so you won't get a chill from the ice cold water in winter! 😂 In the back, there are a toilet, three shower stalls, and communal sinks, along with a washing machine and dryer that are free to use (you just need to buy detergent from the capsule machine or bring your own)
Since it's a hostel, the dorms have top and bottom bunks. The bunks are quite spacious and come with two power outlets (remember your travel adapter!), an overhead locker (bring your own padlock), a towel, and two hooks. You have to make your own bed; it's a futon-style setup where you lay the linens on the mattress. A pillow and duvet are provided. During winter, they run the AC (split system) on heat mode to keep it cozy. In the room, there’s a luggage storage area and hanging rods for clothes. On the second floor where I stayed, there are two toilets in the room: one with a urinal and another unisex one with a smart bidet/washlet.
To be honest, while it's very close to the Miyagawa Morning Market, it feels a bit far from the Nohi Bus Center and JR Station. If you don't like walking or tire easily, this might be a bit of a challenge.
Overall, it's a great, affordable choice for backpackers😗

M4r13So cozy and i was lucky to have the best roomies ever ☀️
🪲PROS
- has a shuttle bus and multiple times a day or a bus station close by
- inner part of the city is reachable within 20-25 mins of walking and the folk village is very close
- kind owner and cozy interior with a very homey feel
- kitchen and bathrooms were easily accessible and clean, shampoo and shower gel were included
- coin laundry and coin dryer were easy to use and cheap as well
❤️🩹CONS
- not really a con, but remember to bring a towel and toothbrush/toothpaste, if you forget it you can also get a towel at the Inn
- 25min on foot is not that far away from the inner city and it’s great that the folk village is so close (if you want to visit) - but i had my focus on different things during my visit, so next time i would book something closer to the inner part of the city and the travel bus station
🌱 all in all, i really enjoyed my stay

Genuine Japanese style accommodation in an Onsen. Facilities are limited but one encounters Japan like no other.
Admitting that sleeping on a mattress next to each other is not for everyone and so might be the public shower in the Onsen.
Shuttle bus to the city is needed as its quite far from the city centre. Luggage storage is very limited. Curfew at 11pm without exception.

The location is great, with easy walking around and only ten minutes from the station. I was worried about the cleanliness, but the room was very clean. The bedding was a little worn, but it felt clean and smelled great. The shared bathrooms were also very functional. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Takayama. The price is also quite reasonable.

Cleanliness is ok. It was a perfect stay if you just sleep. It is within walking distance to the international conference hall and is good for business use.

BeihouderenExcellent value for money, less than a 5-minute walk from Takayama Station. If you're participating in Hida Takayama 100, no one is on duty after 8 PM, so they'll send you an email a day in advance with instructions. The front desk let me choose from the available beds, and you can store your own food in the fridge with labels. You can store your luggage on the same day, but it needs to be picked up by 7 PM. A good experience overall.

PasilinExtremely convenient location. The ”rooms” are quite comfortable. They're more like very spacious capsules, where some people can even stand upright! Check-in is remote; the person I spoke with spoke English, and the whole process took about 3 minutes. Nearby, you can do laundry and visit establishments with hotel discounts (I didn't try them). An excellent option if you want something cheap without being in a shared dorm room.

The owner of the accomodation is really accomodating
The only thing that I observed was that the location has not much to offer when you're looking for some food
So on my second day I did bought foods that will suffice until the next morning
