"This is my seventh night staying at Duoyuan Youth Hostel 🏨 on September 8th.
I've previously written simple introductions and reviews about the common areas, dorms, bathrooms, and other aspects, so this time I'll write about something different!
I'm someone who can be both introverted and extroverted. Today, while playing with the somewhat haughty black and white chubby cat in the lobby, a guy from Wuxi who was traveling suddenly joined me to watch the cat 😺. We chatted quite a bit. Even though I'm in an unfamiliar city, traveling alone, these simple conversations made me feel a sense of familiarity, a closeness that came from these fleeting, pleasant exchanges. I'm very grateful to the hostel for this 'gift.' It might require a bit of luck, but when it happens, it brightens your whole day, and you even leave with a slight feeling of calm and composure.
I hope every backpacker who comes to Duoyuan has good luck, good experiences, and meets many wonderful people!

"I've got to say that this was, without any doubt, the best option for a limited-time accomodation I could've found to comfortably stay in Nanjing for 3 days, have more time to explore all the city's landmarks and not to be obliged to move from one end of Nanjing to another each time 👍 In fact, one of the key advantages of Xiying Hotel is not only in very reasonable prices for accommodation (compared to most of the other hotels, even nearby), but also the location of the Hotel - right in the centre of Qinhuai district and it's so comfortable that it takes literally no more than 11-17 minutes of pedestrian walk to reach many of the Nanjing's most popular cultural and historic sights (to be exact - Laomendong, Fuzimiao Pedestrian Street and the Confucius Temple, Zhanyuan Garden and the Nanjing City Wall), and that's why it's a perfect option if your main goal is to explore the city and its historic destinations (especially in a short term), and, at the same time, have a comfortable, clean, well equipped room to stay during your visit. I chose this Hotel almost immediately after I discovered and looked through it, and that was the best choice of accommodation I could have made for my trip to Nanjing. Furthermore, the staff were very courteous, hospitable and helpful, and they're always glad to assist you no matter what kind of problem you're experiencing) If I'm talking about myself, I had 2 problems - first one is that before my arrival I booked a wrong type of room by mistake (female instead of male), but nevertheless, thanks to the help of the staff it was solved instantly, at the reception desk, simply by paying a small additional sum of money, required for a male room. And the second one happened after I arrived too early at the Railway Station, when it was still closed, and I realised that I had to wait for 5 hours for it to open, but I've already checked out from the room and left the hotel. Still, the manager at the reception desk kindly offered me to return back and spend the night in their hotel, in the room I booked earlier, despite the fact that I already checked out, and I'm endlessly grateful to her for giving me this opportunity. On the whole, I can confidently say, that if I'm ever going to visit Nanjing in future, I'll definitely choose the Xiying Hotel, and I highly recommend you to do the same)"

"I came to Nanjing for a concert and my stay here was excellent. The place was very clean, and the vanity, toilet, and shower areas were all well-maintained, which is very friendly for girls. There's even a dedicated dressing table. The whole establishment was spotless. I also met many fellow fans and wonderful people during my stay. Plus, it's only 100 meters from the subway station. The front desk staff were also very helpful. Overall, my two-night stay was fantastic! 🥰"

Being just minutes away from Shi Lu Metro Station allows guests to explore the city with ease. With multiple attractions nearby including Shantang Kunqu Opera House, Suzhou Conference Center and Cloud-Capped Peak, guests will find plenty to keep themselves occupied. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling alone.
"This is an excellent hostel, very close to the subway station. Even late at night, there's a Domino's and Mixue (bubble tea shop) open downstairs.
The common area isn't huge, but it's well-equipped and you can pretty much do anything there, even play pool. The bar also sells drinks and coffee. The window seats offer a great view of the Gate of the Orient.
The beds are very large, easily accommodating someone around two meters tall, and quite wide. The bunk beds are reasonably easy to get in and out of. Each bed has charging ports – one two-prong, one three-prong, and two USBs. At the foot of the bed, there's a towel and hangers. Privacy is excellent, and every room has air conditioning. Plus, each bunk has its own locker, and both the lockers and room doors require a key card to open.
Upon checking in, you'll need to bring your own water and slippers. Once you enter the accommodation area, you're required to change into indoor shoes, which can be stored in designated shoe lockers.
The restrooms are very clean, and they provide toilet seat covers and alcohol for sanitization. The showers are spacious and have individual stalls. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are also provided.
There's a laundry room with washing machines and dryers. A full wash and dry cycle takes about an hour and costs around ten yuan.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They assisted me in finding misplaced items and even helped with mailing them.
Most of the guests are young people, in their teens and twenties, so everyone is quite open and sociable."

"I randomly booked this hostel, Narrow Alley Youth Hostel, for my trip to Suzhou, and it exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Pingjiang Road and Guanqian Street, making getting around very convenient. The room was very clean, the bedding was comfortable, and the privacy curtains on the bunks were a nice touch. The bathroom was clean with a separate wet and dry area, and fully equipped with toiletries. It was also relatively quiet at night, so my rest wasn't disturbed. The staff were friendly and offered some simple travel tips. It offers great value for money, perfect for solo travelers. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Suzhou."

The hostel is located in the core area of the ancient city (Pingjiang Road Scenic Area of the Humble Administrator's Garden), the Pingjiang Road Historic District is one of the most well-preserved areas of the ancient city, basically continuing the pattern of the city since the Tang and Song dynasties, and the branch alleys on both sides are mostly historic alleys, parallel to water and land, where tourists can feel the original Jiangnan water town style. Diagonally opposite the hostel is the Lion Forest, 300 meters away from Pingjiang Road, 400 meters away from Suzhou Museum and Humble Administrator's Garden, and there are many famous scenic spots such as Coupling Garden, East Garden, Shuangta Market, Guanqian Street, Shiquan Street and so on. I really love the common area; it has a very warm atmosphere with many sticky notes on the wall where people share their stories. We briefly cross paths in this shared space.
Service: Good. After check-in, they briefly explain the important notes and escort you to your room.
Cleanliness: All areas are very clean and tidy.
Facilities: The only minor drawback is that the bunk beds easily disturb each other. I slept on the bottom bunk, and whenever the person on the top bunk moved or turned over, the bed made some noise, which significantly affected my ability to fall asleep."

I chose this hostel for my solo trip to Suzhou, and the overall experience completely exceeded my expectations! The place is cleaned regularly, the beds are tidy, and the bedding is clean with no strange odors. The individual lockers provide a good sense of security. The hostel's location is excellent, just across the street from the South Square of the train station. There are shopping malls and large supermarkets with many chain brands nearby, and public transportation is also quite convenient. A special commendation goes to the cleanliness of the room; the owner herself cleaned it. One suggestion: getting dressed after showering is a bit inconvenient, as you're worried about your pants touching the wet floor, and there's nowhere to lean against, so you have to stand on one leg. The shower water temperature is good, the flow is strong, and it's very comfortable; it's not cold at all. Overall, I had a great two-day stay!
