Hotel near Dongguan Street/Pishi Street,Yangzhou
The Jiyuan Inn was founded on January 8, 1912 (the first year of the Republic of China). The term "Jiyuan" comes from the "Old Stories of the Sun" written by Zhao Jishi, a famous scholar of the Qing Dynasty, and later, there was the famous literary work "Jiyuan Sent". The Jiyuan Inn, as a century-old and time-honored brand, echoes with it. It is truly the only remaining hotel in the Republic of China. The inn employs famous ancient garden masters to repair the old as before, promote cultural heritage, and highlight the past glory. It transforms the 2500 year old civilization and material achievements of reform and opening up of the ancient city into an exquisite meal for folk tourism, adding another beautiful scenery to the old city of Yangzhou, and presenting a period of travel time for tourists. Both are an organic fusion of ancient simplicity and modernity. Among them are the footprints of Zhu Ziqing, Mei Lanfang, Yu Dafu, Uncle Jiang Shangqing, and others who lived in the Republic of China. The hotel will also provide guests staying in Yangzhou with special "three knives" to provide services, such as breakfast buns at the century-old Fuchun Tea House, pedicure and cutting in the Yongning Spring bathroom, and haircuts at the Violet Barber Hall.

"This hotel is located right in the city center, offering excellent transportation links. It's very close to attractions like He Garden, Ge Garden, Dongguan Street, Pishi Street, and Caiyi Street. Being near Maopailou makes grabbing breakfast incredibly convenient. The rooms are clean, tidy, well-laid out, and fully equipped. The bathroom has a great wet/dry separation and no unpleasant smells, and the AC works perfectly. The owner is super friendly and helpful, sending a detailed Yangzhou food and drink guide via WeChat. This guide is comprehensive, covering transportation, distances to attractions, and even categorizes restaurants with map locations, making it very practical. Overall, it was an excellent stay, and I highly recommend it!"

"The inn's location is fantastic, directly across from the Lion Grove Garden, and very close to the Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Museum, making sightseeing incredibly convenient! I had originally booked the smallest room in the inn. When I arrived, I asked the owner if a free upgrade was possible, as many guests had mentioned being upgraded. Without a second thought, the owner immediately upgraded me to the largest room—the service was truly exceptional! The room decor was beautiful, especially the large bed, which perfectly embodies classical Chinese aesthetics. There was also a tatami tea table and a small arhat bed. The front desk even provides a sewing kit for mending clothes, all of which speaks volumes about the owner's excellent service. I'm definitely planning to stay here again on my next trip to Suzhou."

"Perfect location, lovely hosts, beautiful room with vintage furniture and super soft blanket! Very authentic. During the day time it’s super loud because of the amount of tourists, but staying in this place gives you unique opportunity to explain the town in the very early morning or very late evening (the lights switch off at 23:00). The room can seem small, but it’s old town, it can’t be different:) Unfortunately there was no tea provided, that’s sad for tea-famous country, maybe should be improved. Other than that – my stay was amazing☺️"

Jianyuan Hotel – A Poetic Retreat in Tongli Nestled in the heart of Tongli Ancient Town, Jianyuan Hotel stands elegantly by the water, blending Jiangnan’s timeless charm with modern comfort. Spanning 650 square meters, it features 14 beautifully designed rooms, a serene courtyard, and refined spaces for tea, coffee, and quiet reflection. Crafted from rich black walnut, the interiors exude warmth, complemented by central air conditioning and high-speed fiber-optic connectivity. A gentle river flows past the entrance, where ten ancient camphor trees cast dappled shadows over bamboo and stone. Step inside to discover koi gliding in a half-acre pond, murmuring brooks, and lush greenery—an oasis of tranquility. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning river views, with terrace tea rooms and sky-view suites inviting nature into your stay. At Jianyuan, time slows, and the soul finds peace. Where will you be?

"Facilities: Fully equipped and a great location, very close to the parking lot! Cleanliness: Very clean, small but exquisite! Environment: The environment is beautiful. The two rooms on the second floor have floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a very pleasant view of the pond! Service: Both the manager and staff are very responsible. There's also a small coffee shop with a very cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of Japan's Showa era. The manager is truly outstanding, with elegant demeanor and conversation. It was my first time staying in Tongli, and I experienced five-star service! I brought my Japanese friends here, and they also gave it high praise! Highly recommended!"

Hotel near Shi Road/Shantang business district,Suzhou
"I booked this B&B for Xu Liang's Suzhou concert, and although it wasn't cheap, it was worth it. The environment and facilities were good, exactly as pictured. The location is excellent, very close to Changmen City Wall, and right next to Shantang Street for strolling (though I find Shantang Street less interesting than Pingjiang Road, but both are commercial ancient streets overall). I initially thought it would be noisy near Changmen Street, but it was actually very quiet at night, making for a comfortable sleep 💤. The owner offers personalized service through a private WeChat group, providing recommended travel routes and restaurants. The only minor downsides were that I thought the river view outside the window would be charming, but the water sometimes had a slight odor (closing the window helped), and the river nearby was under renovation, which was a bit of an eyesore. However, when sitting by the window, you can't really see that area anyway."

The Nantong Sendi Tribe Treehouse provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Nantong Sendi Tribe Treehouse is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Nantong. Boasting a convenient location, the hotel is just 7km from Nantong Railway Station and 18km from Nantong Xingdong International Airport. With multiple attractions nearby including Nantong Wonderful Farm, Nantong City Sandi Dream Island Treehouse and Nantong Sendi Tourist Resort, guests will find plenty to keep themselves occupied. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. If cleanliness is important to you, this hotel makes an excellent choice, as our guests consider this to be one of the cleanest hotels in the city. For guests traveling with families, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"Location: At first, I thought the navigation was wrong, but it turns out that both the Sandi Hotel and the Tribal Hotel use the same front desk for check-in, just different actual accommodations. If you can't book a West Zone treehouse, don't worry – the Mushroom House is very close to the West Zone treehouses. Aside from not being able to feed giraffes directly from your room, everything else is within walking distance. Amenities: All the rooms at the Tribal Hotel are very unique. This time, I booked the Mushroom House, which has three rooms on the first floor. A delightful surprise was finding a 3-in-1 charging cable in the TV cabinet, which was very handy in a pinch. The bathroom has a child-friendly toilet seat and a step stool. The round bed is specifically designed for children, so its overall height is much lower. Very thoughtful. Breakfast: Absolutely delightful, this is one of the few parent-child hotels in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai area that genuinely considers children's dietary needs. There's steamed egg with shrimp, unseasoned so you can add soy sauce yourself; sugar-free yogurt for younger children; and even fresh boiled shrimp. However, due to the overall room layout, the brightness is insufficient, and the windows are very small. The air conditioning is very strong, though. If you prioritize natural light, the Mushroom House might not be the best choice."

Extra linens were also provided for the additional bed — all without any extra charges, which we truly appreciated. The location is excellent, close to the entrance and main attractions. The room was spacious, clean, and lovely 🥰 We absolutely loved the riverside view. Every one of us enjoyed our stay so much. "Welcome to our hotel. After traveling through the city, you’ve found the perfect room to wash away your fatigue. With warm service and cozy accommodations, we look forward to your arrival. We are here, waiting for you."

"The entire public area and the corners of the room are cleaned spotlessly, the tabletop is not dusty, the bathroom is also polished brightly without water stains. You can walk to the large shopping malls in the core business district in seven or eight minutes. There are all kinds of trendy brand shops, specialty food shops, cultural and creative markets. It’s fun to go shopping enough to kill most of the time. The professional screening equipment in the room can be used directly by looking for the front desk to register and authorize in advance. The picture is clear and the sound effect is smooth, and the viewing experience is particularly good."

"The hotel is conveniently located near Dongguan Street, right next to Ge Garden, making it easy to access transport and local amenities. The rooms are housed in a two-story wooden building, encircling a charming courtyard with a miniature rock garden. While the rooms themselves are clean, the bathroom is a bit on the small side. The service was incredibly thoughtful; staff even helped us with laundry. The owner was exceptionally hospitable and warm; he not only used an electric cart to assist with our luggage but also gave us a ride to a nearby place for a local morning tea. We noticed the diamond-patterned door didn't block out much light, but when we mentioned it to the owner, he immediately took care of it. He also generously shared recommendations for many authentic Yangzhou restaurants favored by locals, helping us avoid any tourist traps."

"The B&B's location is fantastic, within walking distance of Dongguan Street and Pishi Street. We passed by numerous national, provincial, and city-level protected historical sites, and the B&B itself is one of them – what a privilege to stay in a salt commissioner's former residence! Despite being in a bustling area, the hotel itself is quite peaceful, free from tourist noise. The small courtyard is lovely, perfect for a large family outing, where you can book two rooms and share a private courtyard. Breakfast is served at a neighboring partner restaurant with beautiful garden scenery, though it was a bit crowded during the Qingming Festival. The B&B's service was impeccable; they provided a special children's toiletries kit, and we even received Yangzhou University yogurt upon check-in. Every staff member was incredibly friendly, and they even helped us pack items we'd forgotten when we checked out."

SStanley The Travel ManI arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.

YYunbaoxuanzhugaoyihanThe first time I lived in Taoist Temple, it was very fresh. Yi Daochang was very patient and attentive. He gave us guidance all the way. We bought tickets from the station (guests can enjoy the preferential price of 80 yuan / people including tour bus during the stay, great value) and went through the relevant procedures. Take the car to the top palace. According to the guidance of Yidao Chang, I quickly found the check-in room. After I checked in, the selected room was the only photography room that could open the door and see the mountain. Due to the recent rain in Changzhou, when I came, I caught up with the time period of the cloudy mountain and the fairy air floating on the mountain. The cloud mountain mist has a feeling of being in a fairyland. Although the visibility is not high, it has a flavor. We booked a meal of 150 per person a day in advance. Four dishes and one soup. The rice is basically not enough and it is free to continue. We ate Maoshan's famous goose meat and steamed salmon. Two vegetarian dishes are a large bowl (small basin) of seaweed egg soup. We ate very delicious. It feels very good. After eating at about 7:30, Yidao Chang also arranged a night tour for us. The cultural history is floating in a fairy spirit. It really feels like being in a fairyland (remind everyone that the temperature on the mountain is generally lower than the mountain, and you must bring warm clothes or you will catch a cold). We also booked the head incense at 12 o'clock in the evening in advance. This is a benefit that accommodation customers can enjoy. It is really superb and the price is super high. The next day we also drank the highest altitude coffee in Jiangsu Province, with plain noodles, and it felt really good. I took a few photos of good visibility before checking out. I really recommend everyone to have the opportunity to experience it. It feels super good. We will come again next time.

HHalf Gwailo ABCOverall an enjoyable and relaxing one night stay at this tiny cosy hotel in Zhouzhuang, for our final leg of our 6 days Suzhou trip. We took a didi over to Zhouzhuang, which was faster and cheaper than I expected, just a little over half an hour. The hotel staff called me the day before to arrange for pick-up near the watertown ticket office. Actually I can't speak Mandarin and their English wasn't too good but we ended up chatting on Wechat as Wechat has a built-in translate function in their chat. So, 15 minutes before we arrive, we just had to let them know on Wechat. And the staff is already waiting for us, helped us with the luggage and guided us through the ticket buying process. You do have to pay for the ¥100 RMB ticket to get into the watertown and the ticket is good for 3 days. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the entrance. I picked this hotel because it was right inside the watertown and it had the ancient Chinese interior, although all the amenities are modern, including a robust and high-tech Kohler smart toilets in each bathroom. There is a nice coffee shop inside the hotel and the coffee shop owner is friendly and takes his coffee craft seriously. The hotel gives you 2 free drinks during your stay and the coffee menu is quite extensive. If the hotel rooms are not booked on that day, we are told the hotel opens their doors to coffee customers. The hotel owner is actually younger than I expected so I am impressed she meticulously created this authentic experience and the attention to detail. She was friendly and helpful and was open to accommodating our needs. We booked the entire 2nd floor, which was 3 bedrooms and we had 6 adults in our group. This tiny hotel only has 3 bedrooms so if you booked all 3 rooms, you pretty much get the entire hotel to yourselves which include the first floor which is spacious and comfy. When I visit Zhouzhuang again, I am looking forward to stay here again. It's certainly not cheap, but you do get what you pay for - which is people passionate about hospitality (in a Chinese way) and also a hygiene and staying experience that is certainly up to international standards.

LLuanjingDue to some unforeseen circumstances, I had an extra day in Nanjing. I wanted to stay somewhere close to Nanjing South Railway Station and stumbled upon this guesthouse. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised. It's designed like a one-bedroom apartment, very spacious, and decorated in a warm and elegant style. They even provided scriptures and Yuhua tea for a tasting. You could easily spend a comfortable day just relaxing in the room, enjoying the sun, practicing calligraphy, and sipping tea without even going out. The bathroom amenities were also very comprehensive, and they even offered disposable towels. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered city views, and I could even see the South Station from my room, which was within walking distance. There's also a commercial area nearby, making dining very convenient, and you can even do some shopping afterward. Later, I checked on my phone and realized it's also very convenient to get to popular Nanjing attractions like Fuzi Temple, Laomendong, and Niushou Mountain. I regretted not staying here earlier, as the soundproofing near the attractions I stayed at before was poor, and I didn't get good rest. My family and I commented multiple times that we wished we had booked this guesthouse from the very first day. I will definitely prioritize staying here again on my next trip to Nanjing.
