The hotel lobby is gorgeous. It’s designed like a log cabin and they keep a real fire going in the fireplace, which makes the whole place smell wonderful. It’s a low-service hotel (the staff are also running the campground etc.). You have to make your futon yourself, and the bathrooms are shared but very clean. The room had plenty of electrical outlets and free tea. We couldn’t use the outdoor bath due to damage from last year’s typhoon, but the big indoor baths were clean and a good temperature. Food was really good, maybe a bit less in quantity than other ryokan but plenty. Cherry blossoms were in full bloom and we could see them from the window, alongside the river. I’d like to visit again in the summer. It looks like they’re constructing a new campground nearby and I bet it would be really nice to stay there.

It was a tatami bed, air conditioning worked, and it was a hot summer, but it was comfortable. Supper and breakfast were delicious as rumored. The rice of the variety called Kinuhikari was also very delicious. Mr. and Mrs. Ashikaga have a nice smile. At night, he went up to the thatched attic and explained. I learned a lot. He took a picture on the morning when he came home. I am a 60th birthday to 8/1, but I wore a red Chan, a red hat and took a picture. It was embarrassing, but it was a good experience. Thank you very much.

Thanks to the staff at the B&B. They saw that I hadn’t gone back at 7pm, so they figured I should take the last shuttle bus from the train station back to the B&B. Since it was starting to get dark at 5 o'clock, they deliberately pulled out a car to pick me up. Although the journey was not long, they saw that I was a woman and would save me from walking around in an unfamiliar field environment, so they offered to pick me up. On the day I left, the B&B took me to the station. They were very honest. Knowing that I rushed back to Kyoto early and would not have breakfast, they gave me a refund (this was breakfast that I added at my own expense and was not included when booking the room).

What a perfect way to begin our Japanese holiday, at a cosy and welcoming family establishment. As soon as we arrived for our 2 night stay we were welcomed by a warm room and traditional Japanese tea. Being vegetarian, we thought it may limit our variety of food out here, but the chef kindly cooked a vast range of vegetables for us. The onsen was a nice touch to the end of a big day of walking. A day trip to Miryama and Ohno Dam with all the blossoms was truly beautiful. The driver went beyond taking us to the dam to see the cherry blossoms. Thank you for your generosity and special experience these last 2 days!!

We were late but the resort welcome us and did not close the bath early to accommodate us. Great job to foreigners travellers like us. We were late because of delays in the car rental office. The only thing is BBQ inside the building is not what we always practice in our own country. So all of us were BBQ with tears 😭 and ended the session ASAP 😅 The breakfast was ok.

Although the hotel staff only understands Japanese, they try their best to communicate with their heart. The food quality is good. The big bath will reserve time for the passengers to make a loan after closing. It is only when we finally leave the hotel to check out that we have to charge about 2,000 yen.
