Very bad experience. The reception staff and property manager is rude and they talk without even basic decency. We had booked rooms for two days. Two people had booked dorm for two days. I had booked Dorm for day one and private room for day two. It was specifically checked in the reception whether we need to check in separately for each day and it was informed it was not necessary. It was upon their insistence, kayaking was arranged and the timing was 6.30 to 9.30 AM. The receptionist had called me around 9.45 and I told him we are on the way and will be back in some 30 minutes. By the time we get back to the hotel, it was around 10.20 since the travelling time is more than 30 mins. My luggages were inside the dorm and I was dripping wet due to kayaking. They didn’t permit me inside the room to even take my luggage and change clothes harping that check out ought to have been done by 10 AM and I cannot use the bathroom in the dorm even though the other people in the dorm is my own friends. I just requested for 15 minutes and the same was nonchalantly refused. The reception manager also said I should use the common bathroom (unisex) which I was not comfortable. Since we were from Coimbatore, the receptionist made some lure comments in Hindi. Since one of my friends know Hindi, we argued back. It is noteworthy the dorm was free and my friends said they all will wait outside and I needed only 15 minutes to change. They harped on technicalities and made me wait in way dress for almost 1.5 hours, with no remorse or regret. They didn’t even try to provide early check in even at-least payment of additional cost. Solo women travellers, BEWARE. And also non-Hindi speaking people, have ears to what comments they are making. I am also gonna initiate appropriate action against them. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. Worst experience.

Varkala Palace is a delightful homestay – a tranquil retreat boasting well-maintained, excellent rooms. The peaceful ambiance is commendable. However, the absence of food services, even for essentials like coffee, tea, and breakfast, is a notable drawback. The overall experience is slightly marred by the lack of dining options. Despite this, it stands out as a bit expensive for what it offers.

Sutta is located towards the south and quieter side of the varkala coast. Booking and check in was a very smooth experience. The manager navneet ***** with faiz is always ready to help and willing to go the distance with all requests. The double deluxe was very spacious and comfortable with a proper dry and wet area in the bathroom. A lovely little balcony which is sea facing. The room is optimally equipped with basic necessities and clean sheets, towels and mats placed. The lighting is also very well done. The varkala cliff is a 10 mins drive or 25 mins walk. However the oddayam beach is just a 3 min walk. You walk out turn left and go down to the beach. And this beach is always less crowded than any other beaches with about 6-7 foot waves for surfers. They also have a swimming pool within the premises which is a very pleasant addition. The mangroves are a 30 mins drive and jatayu earths centre is again 30 mins by drive. We thank the owner andre who we met for just 5 mins but was very interesting to talk to. Overall a fantastic experience because of which i extended my stay too! thank you!

Oh dear, this hotel has seen better days. Tired, I think is the word. During a two-week trip to Southern India we stayed in five different accommodations including a houseboat, beach huts and hotels, but sadly finished off our trip with a five-night stay at the Hindustan, which was the worst accommodation we stayed in. The staff were all pleasant - especially the chef in the restaurant who greeted us every morning with a smile and soon got to know what we liked, and the gentleman who attends to the pool - the room was cleaned daily, and had terrific views, but the whole hotel needs some money spent on it. Quite a bit of money! For instance, instead of a double bed we had two single beds pushed together. Bad enough as that is, but the sheets didn't even fit! They were too short due to the odd shape of the bed. This proved to be really, really frustrating. The most ridiculous thing, however, is that upon check-out you're handed a leaflet detailing all the tourist places we 'could' have visited had we known about them earlier! These included the Janardanaswami Temple, Golden Island, Kappil Beach, the Sivagiri Mutt ashram, Sri Mahaprahuji Btak (a devotee to Sreenathji), and even elephant rides around the village of Puthenkulam. Our son checked-out a day before us, and this happened both times. Surely, anyone could see this leaflet would be more beneficial at the start of our stay! It actually fills me with sadness to think that we missed out on visiting one of two of these places

The location is good and the hotel is just fine. Need some renovation around the path leading to beach. ***y opt for this location for ease of access to beaches, if that is not maintained it will lead to disappointment. The SPA is not per the expectation and the maintenance of the spa is very bad. Food is above average. The buffet breakfast is fine but lacks variety for those staying longer. Overall it was a good experience. The attender at the pool Mr. Babu is very good, he should be awarded for his fine service. Overall the hotel staff are polite and well ***nered and hear to our concerns.
