"Myself and my friend were drawn to the Palace Hotel for its competitive price and location - both of which could not be faulted. Very inexpensive and centrally located in Buxton next to the train station and local shops all within a five minute walk easily. However, without a doubt, you get what you pay for. Whilst the room looked perfectly clean and functional on arrival, both my friend and I awoke after the first night with sore backs. The beds are cheap and unsupportive. The shower is basic and paltry in its water flow. For a one night stay, it’s fine, but don’t expect luxury. The biggest warning we need to issue pertains to the gym. Unless you are a local Buxton male, you won’t feel comfortable here - I couldn’t use one room as there was loud rowdy discussion between men ongoing in a very confined space which made me feel totally unwelcome. I retreated to a different room, also very small and very unclean, with dirt and dust and flakes surrounding the windows and ripped mats on the floor. See photos attached. My friend used the pool which he also described as dirty and he had to take all of his belongings with him into the sauna as the lockers had no locks or keys, rendering them obsolete. The fact that people pay a monthly membership fee to attend this gym is genuinely astounding. Overall, cheap, mildly cheerful, suitable for a night or two basic stay but do not expect luxury from this hotel."

"Booked this hotel as we were attending women’s football at Derby Pride Park.  We used the NCP car park which was only. 5min walk.  All the staff were smart, well mannered and helpful.  The room was a good size and were surprised to have a full sized bath as well as a powerful shower.  Fantastic breakfast selection where all food was replenished as soon as it was getting low. The only negatives for us was the fact we found some rubbish near the bed along with evidence of dust, one of the bed sheets was torn and one of the bedside wall lamp units was hanging off the wall but still functional. Overall a really lovely hotel  and ideally situated for the football stadium as well as taking in the local sites/ shopping centre (straight over the road)"

"We stayed for 1 night for a special occasion. On arrival we were told that the spa was closed for an event which was very disappointing as I booked this hotel because of the spa & had planned to use the pool & sauna. This should gave been communicated at the time of booking. The building and grounds were impressive but on arrival our featured superior room was freezing cold. The reception turned on the heating at our request but this should have been done hours before our arrival given that it was 8 degrees outside. We sat for an hour in the room with our coats on before asking for a portable heater due to the radiators being only lukewarm. The room never really got warm & when we came back from dinner at 9.15 the heating had been turned off again & we had to ask for it to be turned on again. The food in the restaurant was very good & the servers were lovely but unorganised. We planned to have a drink in the hotel bar but it was so cold that it was empty and not comfortable to stay. I heard kore than one staff member complain about the cold in the hotel. What could have been a very pleasant stay was spoiled by the cold. Unfortunately, we will not return."

Nestled in the rolling Derbyshire countryside in the idyllic location between Chesterfield and Worksop you will find a quintessential country house hotel filled with character charm and luxury. Welcome to Van Dyk a beautifully historic 4 star hotel and Rosette Food Award winning fine dining establishment. Built during the early 1800s by Henry Bowden Van Dyk was originally known as Southgate House. It was a mansion for the elite in British society serving as a luxurious family home for the Victorian gentry. Oozing class style and sophistication it has always been a place you were eager to visit and stay. In 2020 the hotel was fully restored and tastefully refurbished to preserve its heritage. Sympathetic to its history we are retained period features and protected charming details of this stunning building re-creating the grace and elegance that once filled these rooms and harking back to a bygone era of classic traditional luxury. A stay at Van Dyk includes all the contemporary amenities you could possibly require coupled with the glamour and rural charm of a historic country house. A Classic British Hotel / CB. Stay inspired.

"We chose Wildes Inn as it is conveniently located just 4 minutes from Bolsover Hospital, where our mother was due to have full knee surgery. We wanted her to be well rested and comfortable, and the Inn truly delivered. The staff were very friendly, and we were greeted straight away by a young, polite gentleman who made check-in smooth and stress-free. The lobby smelled wonderful and had a spa-like, relaxing atmosphere. The team were also very thoughtful, knowing the reason for our stay, they even offered to arrange takeaway breakfast for us. We booked an accessible room for our mother, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was great too. Overall, we were very satisfied with the entire experience. Our mother was well rested and ready for her surgery. If we pass through again, I would love to try the spa treatments, they certainly look very appealing."

The Best Western Plus Buxton Lee Wood Hotel is one of the most perfectly positioned hotels in Buxton, right in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Three quarters of Buxton are surrounded by the Peaks, so you’ll be well in range of many short and cheerful strolls, or strenuous walks for the experienced hiker. Though the hotel is the perfect base for a walking holiday, it’s an equally appealing spot for those wishing to explore the historic attractions of Buxton Spa itself. Buxton Opera House is a particularly attractive sight to put on the to-do list. It was built by Matcham in 1903 and is a worthy focal point for a Buxton-based theatre break. The Pavilion gardens are also close by - only an 8-minute walk from the hotel - and make for the most idyllic setting on a sunny afternoon. As a guest at the family-run Best Western Plus Buxton Lee Wood Hotel, youll be within touching distance of the Derbyshire Dales, a stone’s throw from Castleton and its fabulous caves, and even closer to the award-winning Elements restaurant – found within the hotel itself! If you’re feeling famished, a three course a la carte feast will be waiting for you, or you can enjoy something a little lighter in the Elements Bar and Lounge. "Best Western Plus Buxton Hotel Stayed here for one night during my Peak District trip. The hotel is very well located, right in the centre of Buxton and close to the Pavilion Gardens, bus stops, and walking routes. The room was clean, comfortable, and warm — perfect after a long day of hiking. Staff were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth and hassle-free. Theres Alton Towers for thrill-seeking families, Chatsworth House for period drama fans and the National Brewery Centre in Burton upon Trent for beer connoisseurs. The Peak District is ideal for romantic strolls, horse riding or potholing adventures, and has a host of charming towns and villages to explore including Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne. Our 99 elegant rooms, including spacious family rooms and luxury suites mix neutral tones with warm splashes of color. All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities and flat-screen TVs with Sky Sports.

"From the outside, the hotel makes a charming first impression with its elegant façade, ornate balconies, and a warmly lit lobby that exudes a sense of old-world charm. The check-in process is smooth, and the staff are courteous and eager to help. The room was clean and spacious, the décor is a bit dated but it adds a character to the place and I like it. The only small issue was, there’s no window only a door to the balcony which is locked and we cannot access it making the room stuffy. Also, it was difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep due to a noise of exhaust fan in the bathroom throughout the night. The bed was comfortable and having an iron was a bonus. Will I stay again? Definitely."

"Lovely location, (pretty village) lovely grounds and impressive entrance. However, we weren’t in the main hotel. The room was large but old fashioned. The roof sloped at the sides which we banged our heads on several times. The window was small which made it stuffy and it was very dark, no main light in the bedroom only lamps. Bed was king size and comfortable. The room and bathroom was clean. We used the restaurant once for dinner and we had 2 breakfasts and the food was nice and reasonable priced. Breakfast was self service (as ours was included) with a good and plentiful variety. The staff were friendly and helpful but professional. We didn’t use the pool in the end as it meant going outside and back inside, as our room was not connected to a covered route to the pool. Nothing really to complain about but we did expect the room to be a bit more luxurious. Slightly overpriced for the room. I expect the price was based on the available amenities. "

The casa is a very nice hotel to stay in. Check in quick and efficient and courteous staff as always. Plenty of parking spaces on site. Room has air conditioning and a good bath room with power shower. Tea and coffee available with a mini fridge for milk and water included. We had booked breakfast but completely forgot breakfast finished at 9am on a monday. I'm hoping that maybe next time we may be able to use this feature. Though to be fair we should have ordered to the room the night before for a small £5. A enjoyable stay nothing more to add.
