"I'm originally from Kendal, but now live overseas. I stayed here to visit family locally and thought I'd treat myself to a nice hotel after not being back for several years. This place was NOT a treat. On checking in, the reception staff member asked me to pay for my stay (obviously I'd already prepaid on trip.com). When I pointed this out, she became quite rude. We were put in the room right next to the office, and we could hear the staff chatting at all hours. The noise in the corridor from other guests woke us up several times during the night (despite the ”Quiet” signage). There was a fire alarm at 6am the next morning. Everyone had to evacuate for a good 45 mins in the rain while we waited for the fire brigade...not even an offer of a free breakfast or coffee or anything afterwards. There's no air con in the rooms, they're really small, the bathroom is tiny and there's not a lot of room to put your stuff. The à la carte restaurant is overpriced and the food was under/overcooked (how can you not know how to cook a potato?). Personally I'd not recommend this hotel when there's a Premier Inn in town..."

"The hotel is located directly across from Lake Windermere, nestled on a hillside. There are many small rabbits hopping around, and flocks of sheep peacefully grazing on the grassy slopes next to the hotel. You can also find plenty of blackberries in the nearby fields, which are quite tasty. The external environment is absolutely beautiful, with lots of lavender and other flowers in the hotel's courtyard, where plump bees busily fly around collecting nectar. On the hillside overlooking the road, there are several swings facing Lake Windermere for guests to enjoy, offering panoramic views of the lake just across the way. Next to the swings, there are a few apple trees bearing fruit. Lazily swinging here makes you feel like the whole world slows down. Our room, the Hazel room, was quite spacious, featuring a large bed (I'm not sure if it was two single beds pushed together or one with two mattresses) and a sofa bed. The bathroom was also very large, with both a shower and a bathtub. There aren't many restaurants near the hotel, but fortunately, the hotel's restaurant is decent, and the prices are comparable to other establishments. For public transport, you're reliant on buses, which aren't very frequent. We initially wanted to go to the town and the Lake District National Park, but as it was already afternoon and we missed a bus, we decided to give up. Instead, we explored the area around the hotel and enjoyed some slow time on the swings, which was also a great experience."

"The self-service check-in was very convenient. I chose an English breakfast for breakfast. I found that there was no heating in the morning, and it was a bit cold in the second half of the night. The one-night stay was okay. There was luggage storage and it was close to the station. I hiked to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset. It was a three-kilometer round trip, perfect⛰️"

"Upon arrival there was nobody at the front desk so I waited. The woman I was somewhat greated by was far from pleasant and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Nothing was explained and no information leaflet for me to read through in my own time. When given my room key I started walking through the lobby but couldn’t see any signs for my room number. Went back to the desk to ask where to go for my room and was told ‘just follow it round’. Very unhelpful and unwelcoming, not sure this lady should be at the face of the hotel. Plus side, room was beautiful and well kept/clean. I was also lake side so got to watch the sunrise with my morning cuppa. Very refreshing views."

The hotel's environment is pleasant, but honestly, the rooms are quite average. The carpet was a bit dirty, and there were multiple stains on the sofa. The bathroom only had a small bottle of shampoo, no shower gel, but there was a small bar of soap. However, the breakfast included with the room was surprisingly good. The à la carte main courses were very English and definitely worth praising. Just for the breakfast alone, I would recommend this hotel."

"This hotel is very friendly to self-driving people, but it is a bit far to take a taxi. When placing an order, please pay attention to the number of people you choose. The price is different for different numbers of people. Children need to pay an extra bed fee of 25 pounds on the spot. The waiter's attitude is okay, but he is very sensitive to the extra people in the room. If you want more beds and quilts, you need to come to the room to see how many people are staying and whether it is the same as the registration. The hotel is on the mountain. At first, I thought the check-in place was on the first floor, but after checking in, I found out that it was on the third floor. Our room was on the first floor and there was no elevator. After carrying the luggage downstairs, I found that my car was parked next to the first floor. I would not have taken the luggage to check in. The hotel has a small pond, which feels like a small resort. The children had a lot of fun playing with the ducks in the pond. At night, you can see the stars in the sky by the pond, which is suitable for vacation. The hotel facilities are a bit old, and the swimming pool is relatively small. It is only suitable for kindergarten children to play in the water. Because I like the pond and lawn more, I didn't stay in the room much during my stay in the hotel. I was outdoors, so there are only outdoor photos"

"The hotel is located halfway up the mountain with beautiful scenery, but getting in and out is a bit inconvenient. You either need to drive yourself or take a taxi. The hotel is quite old and has no elevator. Since we arrived early, we checked in, stored our luggage, and went out. By the time we returned to the hotel, our luggage had already been thoughtfully placed in our room. Because the building is old, the floorboards creak quite loudly when you walk in the room. The room has both heating and air conditioning. The breakfast buffet is quite simple, with juice, cheese, bread, yogurt, and some salami-like meats. You can also order an English breakfast from the menu. Unfortunately, the Michelin-starred restaurant was closed those two days, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the environment is good, and it's worth a stay."

The Lake District is home to many beautiful B&Bs, and ours is one of them. The room even comes with cotton swabs and pads, as well as a glass jewelry box. Breakfast, ordered a day in advance, is prepared by the owner himself and is both exquisite and hearty. The only downside was that it was a bit hot during our two nights there, and there was no air conditioning. There might be a fan, but we couldn't find one...

Although the location of the hotel is not close to the lake, it is between the town of Windermere and Bowness. It is basically a 10-15 minute walk to the lake to take a boat. The World of Peter Rabbit is the closest. The room is large and clean, and the bathroom is the largest among the hotels booked in the seven cities on this trip to the UK. The room is very warmly decorated, the cabinets are very large, and there are many hangers suitable for storing a lot of clothes. The boss's father is from Hong Kong. He chats with us every morning and recommends our travel routes. He is very enthusiastic. The breakfast is also very rich, and the price is very reasonable during the peak summer season.

It happened to be a wedding when I went there. The lobby was full of enthusiastic and cheerful foreigners. There was a dog on duty at the front desk, and it was very well behaved. If you bring children, you need to pay an additional 30 yuan per dog. This, uh... it would be good without this fee. The free buffet breakfast on the second day was good. After ordering coffee, the waiter brought it. There was self-service milk and drinking water in the corridor. Parking is free, and the parking lot is quite large. Basically, you don’t have to worry about having no place, because even if the wedding was full of people the day before, there are still a few parking spaces. Although it is gloomy, rainy, windy and snowy every day in the UK, we saw the long-lost starry sky here.

Stayed here several times, even a couple of times when they had only just re opened following each of the Covid lockdowns and always enjoyed, had a fab welcome and the rooms are clean. Not saying its perfect for everyone as some of you will not be a fan of the gold and red decor in the rooms , reception and corridors. But its not shabby its just old fashioned. The bathrooms are moden and the bar and restaurant have had a face lift with a not ultra moden colour scheme of cream and blue but it suits the building style. Dont expect spa, gym or pool and dont expect room service or cocktails. But you will always get a warm and friendly welcome and service. The setting is off the beat and track , but worth finding this gem, at the side of the woods , with stream running over waterfall and rock oh and keep your eyes peeled for red squirrels. Food is good at breakfast though no veggie sausages which some did complain about, food is good value in the evening though a limited choice of 4 starters 4 mains and 4 puds including a veggie option. Yorkshire portions for the main and loads of veg. Bar prices higher than pub prices but not that bad for a hotel.
