"A boutique hotel close to the Dona Katalina Zubia. There are two entrances to the hotel, the main one facing the road and the other entrance facing the Urumea River. Staff were friendly and always had a smile. The hotel is quite clean and everything is within 15mins walk. The amenities are limited, but there is a 24 hour reception and bar downstairs, a nice roof top sunbathing area and a gym. Please double check the other amenities listing when booking, as I don't recall seeing the Public Bath, Foot Bath and Clothes Dryer as advertise. I would also suggest to check the batteries of the remotes before someone check ins, as I had to request it to be changed and it wasn't available until the next day, more compliment bottles of water and dental kits (given there was 3 of us and only 2 bottles and 1 kit). Overall though, I enjoyed the stay and would come back again."

"The room is large, clean, comfortable and beautiful. The service is friendly. The car is parked right in front of the hotel, and there are many parking spaces. It is about 2 kilometers away from Shell Beach, which is not far, but it is a bit tiring to go up and down the mountain."

"The room was small for the price. The bathroom is a glass box inside the room, but the problem was there was no ventilation, and after a shower, steam would fill the room and linger. The location is excellent in the old town (on the perimeter), overlooking the main square and the theater. Tram, bus, and subway stops are just a few steps away. Excellent in this regard. The breakfast was monotonous (you'd notice after 3 nights), and the selection was questionable for 15 euros per person. I must mention the courtesy and kindness of the staff, from the reception to the bar and breakfast team."

"We had such a great time this year for Semana Grande. And the Axel Hotel was in the perfect location for us. Right on the river next to a great spot for drinks and food. The rooftop pool is also a great spot to watch the fireworks! The staff was so helpful and friendly. And although we didn't need housekeeping while we were staying there they offered every day to clean our room or swap out towels or necessities for us. What a great experience. We will definitely be back!"

"The hotel itself is great, and I especially appreciated how kind and helpful the Colombian receptionist was.
However, my experience with the service was disappointing. I was staying for business, and although it was a bank holiday, I needed to use an iron before an important meeting. I had to wait 45 minutes, and when I called reception again, I was told that, following the housekeeping staff’s advice, they could only provide one after 10 a.m.
I explained that I was working and was already running late for my meeting. Thankfully, the receptionist eventually brought me the iron himself, and I really appreciated his help.
Overall, a nice hotel, but the situation with the iron was unnecessarily frustrating—especially for a business traveller."

At check-in, the hotel staff offered us an ”upgrade.” He said that for an additional €25 per day, we could ”upgrade,” so we agreed.
However, while the room did have a Sea View, the size was downgraded to just 21m². I told them that paying €25 to have a smaller room was a downgrade, but they insisted that the view had been upgraded.
I asked to be moved back to the room we originally booked, but the staff ignored my request for an entire day.
Let me ask you this: if you went to see a new landscape, and the view changed, how would you describe it? You wouldn’t say the landscape itself was ”upgraded,” would you? You’d say the view was different or better.
The following day, I finally got a response from the staff. They told me I’d need to pay an additional €70 per day if I wanted a 32m² Sea View room.
While the hotel facilities and scenery are excellent, the staff are focused entirely on business and seem to aim to squeeze every extra euro from their guests.
In the end, we ended up paying the €25.

"I stayed at Axel San Sebastián for a solo trip and was absolutely delighted by the warm hospitality and friendly vibes.
My trip started with a bit of a crisis; I left my luggage on an intercity bus and had a restaurant reservation overlapping with the pick-up time. I was quite overwhelmed, but staff member Tanja was a true lifesaver. She went above and beyond to help me arrange the luggage pick-up and even communicated with the restaurant to reschedule my reservation. Thanks to her incredible support, the rest of my stay in Donostia was seamless and wonderful.
The hotel itself is neat, modern, and has a very inviting atmosphere with a fabulous, stylish touch. I also thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi. "The room was too small for the price (I could barely open my suitcase). The sink wouldn't drain, and even though staff came multiple times to fix it, it kept getting clogged. The facilities were outdated for the price. The location was great, just 3-5 minutes from the beach, but it was so noisy at night that I couldn't sleep."

The lady at the front desk was very friendly and enthusiastic when we checked in, asking if we needed a map and briefly explaining the surrounding routes.
The water pressure in the bathroom was a bit low, and switching between the showerhead settings required some guesswork.
Breakfast had a decent variety of choices.
It's only about a ten-minute walk from the Guggenheim Museum and the airport bus stop. It would have been better if they had provided information about the airport bus service being suspended on May 1st, as we checked out on Labor Day and waited at the bus stop for over half an hour for nothing.

Guest UserIf you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay away from the hustle and bustle, this location might just suit you — provided you’re comfortable with being quite far from anything of note. That said, it’s not entirely cut off; there’s a bus stop directly outside with services running roughly every 15 and 30 minutes, which does make getting around manageable.
The setting is quiet and relaxing, with a pleasant bar on-site and a decent selection of tapas, which added a nice touch to the evenings. However, there were a few drawbacks during our stay. The television in the room didn’t work at all — unsure if it was just the batteries in the remote or a more serious issue, but we couldn’t get any power to it, which was a shame.
Breakfast was tidy and kept us going, but it did become repetitive after a couple of days. The pastries in particular were a bit disappointing — rather dry and not the freshest.
Overall, it’s a good spot if you value tranquillity and can cope with a bit of isolation. With reliable transport links it offers a relaxing base, albeit with room for improvement in a few areas. There is a confidence shop and a bar that does food about 10 mins walk away and playground for children mostly in neighbourhood of homes though.

Suneesh MenonI stayed at Hotel Zinema7 for 4 nights. The hotel has a modern design, comfortable rooms, and a pleasant atmosphere overall. However, there were a few disappointing aspects to the stay.
The location is not very central, which means you need to rely on buses or taxis more often than expected to reach the Old Town and main tourist areas.
The biggest frustration was that the telephone in the room was not working throughout the stay, despite reporting the issue. Unfortunately, it was never fixed, which made communication with reception inconvenient.
Another disappointing point was the complimentary water policy. Water was provided only on the first day, even during a 4-day stay, which felt unnecessarily stingy for a hotel of this category.
Overall, the hotel has good design and comfortable facilities, but the service experience and attention to guest convenience could definitely be improved.

The room was very nice, with a high-end feel, and a welcome champagne was provided. The front desk service is enthusiastic, helping to make restaurant reservations and providing various information. It's a little regrettable that there is no big mirror in the room, so I can't take a look at my whole body. I don’t know how celebrities would react if they tried on clothes without a full-length mirror when they came to stay.

HosanChoose the hotel for its proximity to the Intermodal bus interchange. We walked to all the main tourist attractions from the hotel. Bilbao is a very walkable city.
What sets this hotel apart is the friendliness of the staff. The front counter team is genuinely friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Noemi who went out of her way to help us and gave advice on airline lost luggage.
The room is spacious for our needs. The king bed is super comfortable, with just the right firmness. Linen is plush and pillows are fluffy. It has a simple yet functional tea-making facility in the room. The room came with USB charger by bedside, which is essential for today's travellers.
We love the bathroom. Well-lit, full-size shower with strong water pressure. You will find the basic amenities (Toothbrush etc) in the bathroom.
The cleaner did a good job with the room. The hall and public areas are all spotless. Judging based on the interior, the hotel might have been refurbished not that long ago.

Soundproofing could be better.
Having a bath a hear the tv from the next room, should not be possible in a hotel like this, also the slamming doors, was not great.
Staff in the hotel are super, from housekeeping till reception.
The restaurant is fantastic, fantastic wines.
And probably one of the best burgers I ever had.
If you stay at this hotel, you have to visit this restaurant. I simply loved it.
Free parking near the hotel, even with vans or minibuses.
Despite the fact that soundproofing could be better, next time in San Sebastián, this will be my first choice.

Whilst the facilities of the room are good the communication is absolutely woeful. We tried for 3 days to contact the property after they sent the pre-registration email through ALL of their channels - email, Whatsapp and phone call with not one response. It came to the day of arrival and with no response we had to try via Trip.com and finally got to live chat with a person who then followed up with the hotel. Needless stress for us that could have been avoided with a simple reply.
Whilst we had an enjoyable stay the public areas are very dark (the walls and ceiling are painted a very dark grey) and similarly in the bathroom of the room - seemed a very odd colour choice. Also, we could smell what others were cooking in their rooms.
Finally, (not the hotels fault) but we had noisy neighbours in the room above and as the floors are timber we could here them (or their kids) making noise til 1 am.
Overall, disappointed.
