This hotel offers excellent value for money, with the shuttle service to and from the airport being its absolute highlight. The surrounding environment is quite good, and since most guests here are catching flights, convenience, punctuality, comfort, and good value are likely their top priorities. This hotel excels in all these aspects, leaving nothing to complain about. I have four suggestions: 1. Water overflows from the bathroom after showering; it needs a complete renovation. 2. The shower area should have a non-slip mat and warning signs. 3. Reusing plastic slippers and promoting eco-friendly slippers should be reconsidered due to hygiene concerns and the current limited adoption of the 'green hotel' initiative. 4. For the shared elevators, perhaps a 'quiet mode' prompt or softer chimes could be considered? Overall, it's a pretty good hotel.

Excellent Stay in the Heart of Kunming I stayed at Atour Hotel Kunming (Nanping Pedestrian Street Old Street) for one night on 1 June 2025, and it was easily one of the best hotel stays I’ve had in Kunming. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated, giving it a fresh, modern, and stylish feel throughout. We booked a Superior Queen Room, which was exceptionally spacious and thoughtfully designed. The room was well-equipped with all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay. The standout feature was undoubtedly the bedding. The mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable and supportive—we slept so well that we nearly missed breakfast the next morning. The bathroom amenities were excellent, and the heated toilet seat was a particularly nice touch, especially considering how uncomfortable cold toilet seats can be. The only thing missing was a bidet, which would have made the experience a perfect 5/5. Another feature I appreciated was the hotel’s robot delivery service. Food deliveries are received at the lobby and then sent directly to your room by robot, which was both convenient and fun. The lobby and breakfast restaurant are located on Level 7, which also houses a well-equipped gym and complimentary self-service laundry facilities—great additions for both short and extended stays. Location-wise, the hotel is hard to beat. Situated right in the heart of Kunming’s city centre, surrounded by local streets, markets, shopping malls, and plenty of dining options, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, facilities, service, and unbeatable location. I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Kunming.

Just pulled up to the hotel and — plot twist — our room wasn’t ready. Shocking, I know. They’d just survived the Water Festival the day before, so the place was probably still half-drowned and hungover. The receptionist dude was an absolute saint. His female colleague, however… let’s just say she was clearly auditioning for the role of “Cranky Receptionist from Hell.” I’m 99% sure she was on her period and the other 1% was pure personality. Thankfully they upgraded us, which was nice. I never saw the original room, so for all I know they moved us from a broom closet to a slightly larger broom closet with a view. Speaking of which — the view? Legit fire. The room itself? Clean enough. Dry sink area: spotless. Toilet: sparkling. Then came the shower — oh boy. It started off promising, like a decent enough setup… until my girlfriend jumped in. Five minutes later the hot water ghosted her mid-shampoo like a bad Tinder date. One second she’s happily singing, next second she’s screaming like she just got waterboarded by ice cubes. I’ve stayed in fancier bathrooms in Mexican motels that still had bullet holes in the walls and more reliable plumbing. Breakfast was… breakfast. The kind of “basic” that makes you nostalgic for airplane food. But hey, they gave us more bottled water than a doomsday prepper’s basement, so points for hydration. We were only there for two nights — in and out like a cheap Tinder date. Would I go back? Big fat question mark with a side of “probably not even if they paid me.” ⁉️

I booked a taxi from the airport with Trip. The driver had to leave me at the entrance to the Night Market rather than to my hotel as he had no other choice. Took a while to work out where the hotel was as traders blocked the entrance. Fortunately and unexpectedly my data from Mongolia worked so I could use AMap and Google translate to get to the right place. Accessed through an entrance with 2 elephant statues. Easy to see in the daytime, tricky for first time at night. Each receptionist I met over the days were very helpful and friendly( via Google translate and WeChat). Lift to the room. Very lovely room with round bed and private bathroom. Very clean and comfie. Kettle and tea provided. Air con which I actually used, from the cold of Mongolia to the heat of Kunming. Reception area had seating so one could enjoy tea there (free) and meet others if one felt like it.

The hotel was not perfect, but I still rated 5/5 mainly due to the staff's super helpfulness. I highly recommend communicating with the hotel via Wechat beforehand. Taxis cannot reach the hotel's front gate, so you should ask the hotel to provide you with the address where taxis can drop you off. For us, we asked the hotel to help us book a pickup service from the railway station (40 CNY). While on the train, I chatted with the driver via Wechat and asked him to wait for us at the exit. It was very worth it as we didn't have to struggle with finding taxis outside the train station. Also, since the hotel knew what time we arrived, they also came in time to pick us up from the taxi drop off point and helped us with our luggage. It's about 200 meters' walk from the hotel. The hotel's gate is called Reading is Boutique (see my photo). I would have never found it had I not booked the pick up service. What I like about the hotel's location is that although it's a bit far from the main attractions (400m from the main square and 800m from the water wheel), it's very quiet. If I had booked a hotel in the center of the old town, I'd have suffered from immense noise from the nightclubs there. The hotel owner / staff (I'm not sure who he was) was super kind and helpful. He didn't speak English so we mostly communicated via Wechat where I could use the built-in translation tool. He gave me all information I needed and responded to my questions very quickly. Their breakfast was tasty - a bowl of noodles with 2 eggs per person. I ate the same breakfast for 3 mornings and didn't even get bored. On the second floor, there's a balcony where you could sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the old town. Our room was located on the ground floor. To be honest, it's a bit outdated already. The bed was not very comfy, and there was no door between the sleeping area and the toilet (only a curtain). However, it was fair enough with such a good price. It seems there's only one lady who does all the cleaning and housekeeping. She prepared breakfasts for us and helped us clean the room. However, we found a half-open bag of food from one of the drawers in our bedside cabinet - perhaps from a previous guest. Not sure how long it has been there though. I think rooms need better cleaning. Overall, if I had to choose again, I would still stay at this hotel. I appreciate all the transparency in communication, the location, and the vibe of this hotel. Highly recommend it!

This hotel is located right in the city center, with a lively pedestrian street and plenty of great food options downstairs. The halal beef pancakes right outside are delicious and always have a long queue! If you turn right out of the hotel and pass Nanning Street, you'll reach Shuncheng Shopping Mall, which boasts numerous restaurants. The Wuyi Road metro station is also right next to it. You can easily walk to Cuihu Park and several other pedestrian streets from the hotel, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. The hotel breakfast offers a wide variety of dishes, including local Yunnan specialties like Er'si and rice noodles. The hotel maintains the high standards of Sheraton (Marriott), and the room facilities are excellent. The lovely front desk staff even upgraded my room and gave me a fruit platter. My room on the 28th floor offered expansive city views. For transportation to Kunming Station, if you're in a hurry, I'd recommend a taxi as there might not be a direct metro line due to the complex underground structure of the old city. One suggestion I have is to place ashtrays (or poles) outside the entrance. This would prevent guests who step out to smoke from a non-smoking hotel from littering cigarette butts.

Extremely satisfied! The room was spacious and came with an oxygen concentrator, smart home features, a smart toilet, and a high-power hairdryer! The water heater was excellent, providing hot water instantly, and the shower pressure was fantastic, making for a refreshing shower. Plus, when we arrived at the hotel at past 10 PM on the first day, they offered car pick-up and complimentary rice noodle supper! The value for money and the environment are both incredible. They even gave us a souvenir gift. Overall, everything was top-notch; we had a very comfortable stay!

The stay experience is superb, and all service staff must be praised! From the reception to the check-in, the whole process is smiling and intimate, take the initiative to help carry luggage, introduce facilities, respond promptly and patiently. The rooms are cleaned meticulously, and the needs can be solved quickly. The attitude is gentle and courteous, and it is really at home. The room is clean and comfortable, and the price is very high. Because this group of warm-hearted staff, I will definitely choose here next time! The hotel forgot to take pictures. It is very clean. It is very good. It is very close to the ancient city of Tea Horse. It is very convenient to play. It is equipped with two beautiful ancient cities.

This guesthouse is conveniently located just 10 meters inside the North Gate of Lijiang Old Town, so you don't have to drag your luggage far. It's easy to catch a taxi or ride a bike from here to anywhere. The guesthouse is on Wuyi Street (a food street), with a 7-11, Ba Wang Cha Ji, and Hougu Coffee all within about a 10-minute walk. We stayed three nights and opted for the high-speed rail pickup. The young owner provides excellent service – he's very proactive, friendly, and even speaks English! He also shared a guide to exploring the old town, including tips to avoid common tourist traps. The guesthouse itself has a lovely Bai ethnic wooden style, and the hygiene is great with a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. The small courtyard is very charming and perfect for relaxing and unwinding. I highly recommend it to friends!

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel before catching a morning flight. We found it very good value for money. The room was spacious and the hotel was very quiet. The beds are quite hard but we didn't mind that. The hotel is about 25-min walk from the airport and seems to have a shuttle to take clients to the airport but they didn't tell us about this when we checked-in so we had to take a taxi when we could have planned better our schedule to make it to the shuttle. Ask about this when you check-in! I would recommend against getting the breakfast. It didn't have many good options and most dishes were very oily. They have a noodle station that we didn't try, so if you like this kind of breakfast, maybe it's worth it for you. Despite this we would still likely stay here again if we wanted to be near the airport.
