It's located in a heritage building with interesting history and at an excellent location, right in the middle of the Victorian town and 5 mins drive to see the penguins. The rooms are newly refurbished tastefully decorated, it has a very nice teapot and a nice tea egg and some nice coffees and teas. It has an excellent breakfast with good choices of fruits, cereals..., it's the only hotel that offer us the breakfast in New Zealand!

Very nice view that can see the lake and town centre at the opposite, friendly staff and the in-room dining was fabulous, I had Salmon & Cauliflower which is sooo good that I re-order on second day!

Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was comfortable and provided a pleasant environment to relax. The location was also excellent, with restaurants and various attractions conveniently nearby, making it easy to explore the area. Even though the hotel parking was full, the staff provided clear guidance and helpful instructions on alternative parking options nearby. Their assistance made the process smooth and hassle-free, which was greatly appreciated.

The room was very spacious and had great natural lighting, which I really appreciated. It felt comfortable during the day and overall the space itself was quite nice. However, the WiFi was extremely poor. Even basic social media would keep buffering, and trying to watch a show at night was almost impossible — it would pause every couple of minutes. Since there’s not much to do around in the evening, this was pretty frustrating. Another thing that felt a bit uncomfortable was the mirror placement next to the bed upstairs. It’s not directly facing the bed, but if you turn to the side, you’re basically looking straight into it. I know this might not bother everyone, but in some cultures (like feng shui), having a mirror facing the bed is considered bad for sleep and overall comfort, so it felt a bit odd to me. The bathroom was also a bit annoying — the fan automatically turns on with the light and can’t be switched off separately. It was quite loud, so even using the bathroom felt uncomfortable after a while. Parking space was decent in size, but getting out was inconvenient. I had to reverse multiple times because the space behind wasn’t very wide. Overall, the room itself is nice, but the WiFi and some layout details could really use improvement.

Nice sized rooms , no air-conditioning but there was a fan supplied and windows could be easily open. Super friendly staff all very welcoming. and plenty of hot and cold options for the buffet breakfast

Great value for money! The room was clean and smelled lovely. The location is super convenient, just a 10-minute walk to the lake. The owner, a kind old man, even enthusiastically told our kids about a small dinosaur park nearby, which was a pleasant walk. There are lots of food options right across the street, including the popular 'Huī Hù' restaurant.

If you use Google Maps, remember to select the pedestrian path for directions. Otherwise, it may guide you to an abandoned house. The view from the dining room was nice, but we found some short blond hairs on the bed. We weren't too concerned about it, but others might be. The breakfast is quite Western—bread and jam, with milk or yogurt. It's a nice place, suitable for a short nap before takeoff. Nearby Saddle Hill is a great spot for viewing the Southern Lights if the timing is right. You could also ask John for local tips—he might know the best viewing spots. Overall, this accommodation was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The unit was very spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean upon arrival, which immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. The layout was practical and suitable for both short and longer stays, with ample space to move around and relax. One of the biggest advantages was how easy the place was to locate. Clear directions and a convenient location made check-in smooth and stress-free, especially after a long journey. The surrounding area was also quiet and pleasant, allowing for a restful stay. Cleanliness was clearly a priority, from the rooms to the common areas, which we truly appreciated. Overall, this accommodation offers great comfort, convenience, and value. We would definitely recommend it to others and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Excellent stay with overwater villas and equipped microwave for self cooking. Brand new property and cosy bed. Well worth the money on the way between Queenstown and Christchurch!

Wonderful. Had the 2 bedroom apartment for sons graduation. Was spacious and all amenities provided including iron, hair dryer and microwave, fridge. Was comfortable and warm. Great location and accessible parking.
