"The hotel's facilities are exceptional. On a clear day, the sea view is absolutely stunning, with a vast ocean panorama right outside the room window. If the weather is good, you can even catch the sunset.
I gave the facilities five stars because there are two swimming pools: one children's pool with a small slide, and a sky pool more suitable for adults. You can order food by the sky pool, and it's quite good.
Additionally, for families with children, there's a kids' playground with various activities. Children aged five and above can be looked after, allowing adults to go to the gym or do other things, which is a very thoughtful service.
I only gave the hotel's location and cleanliness three stars. The location is quiet but there's nothing else nearby. Typically, beachfront hotels are closer to night markets, especially this one which is quite secluded. The hotel does offer a shuttle service, but when I enquired, they didn't mention the need for a reservation, and there was only one scheduled trip. I arrived 15 minutes early only to be told I needed a reservation, and by then, it was full. Luckily, a 10-minute taxi ride still works.
Regarding cleanliness, the room attendant didn't clean properly. Leftover takeout food was still in the room, which was quite disappointing."

"The room was spacious and super clean. The view from the window was quite nice, especially at night. It had a coffee table with two seats next to the window so you can sit and enjoy the view. The pool on the top door had an amazing view, although we missed out as it closes at 10pm and we were always out until past 10pm. We were provided with bath towels, body wash and shampoo, and instant milk tea and kopi. There was a water purifier attached to the tap which was very handy if you needed instant hot or cold filtered water. The location was perfect, almost everything was within walking distance and there was plenty of convenience stores nearby. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower was quite low. Otherwise the stay was fantastic. Will definitely stay here again!"

The hotel itself is a little dated, and some areas could benefit from better maintenance. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the bedding is soft and conducive to a good night's sleep. The resort's pools and relaxation areas are well-maintained. Breakfast offers a rich and diverse selection, with plenty of Southeast Asian specialties. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the hotel environment is tranquil and relaxing. There's no need to rush around; simply strolling through the gardens or enjoying the sea breeze by the beach is incredibly destressing. It's perfect for a slow-paced, relaxing getaway. I highly recommend staying here in Penang for a wonderful seaside experience.

My friend and I stayed for one night in a Standard Room at the Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City. The hotel truly feels like a 5-star property, and the cleanliness, service, and amenities were all absolutely excellent. We were well taken care of by the attentive staff, and the facilities—like the outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre—were top-notch. The only minor downside was the location in Perai, which we felt was just average compared to staying directly on Penang Island. Overall, it is a great choice if you prioritize comfort and exceptional service!

BingTaoI had an excellent stay at G Hotel Gurney in the Executive Suite. The suite was spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a comfortable bed and a great view. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Penang.
The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to Gurney Plaza and within walking distance of many popular eateries. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, making the entire stay even more enjoyable.
The Executive Lounge was a great addition, offering a quiet and comfortable space to unwind with complimentary refreshments. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection of local and international dishes.
Overall, everything from the room quality to the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose G Hotel Gurney again on my next visit to Penang and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay.

Guest UserOverall, we had a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, and we really enjoyed the hi-tea that was delivered to our room. The breakfast was also tasty with a good selection of food.
However, one concern was the security of our room. The room we stayed in could be accessed directly from the swimming pool area, and it didn’t feel secure because it couldn’t be properly locked from the outside when we left. We felt that anyone could potentially enter from the poolside, which was quite worrying.
Another area that needs improvement is the breakfast service. While the food itself was delicious, the service at the breakfast area was noticeably lacking and could be more attentive and efficient.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but improving the room security and breakfast service would make the experience much better.

Guest UserTraveling with kids, the two-bedroom apartment was incredibly convenient. The room was clean and tidy. There's a swimming pool and gym on the top floor, and a washing machine and dryer on the first floor. The hotel's location is also excellent. There's a convenience store downstairs, a 7-Eleven just across the street, and plenty of restaurants nearby – we tried two, and both were delicious. It's about a 30-minute walk to Armenian Street, and you'll see durian sellers everywhere along the way. The only disappointment was that our room wasn't cleaned once during our four-day stay. We were told that for consecutive stays, rooms would be cleaned every three days, but this didn't happen.

Guest UserFacing the sea with stunning views, the weather was clear on the day of check-in, and the blue sky, white clouds, and turquoise sea were beautiful. We stayed in the Victory Wing, and opening the door revealed the ocean – truly refreshing. It's perfect for taking photos, with beautiful scenery everywhere and every corner being picture-perfect. The Nanyang-style architecture makes it, in my opinion, the best hotel in Penang.
