5-Star Hotels in Crete, Greece

We stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a sea view room, but they said it was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi. While the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing, the sea view was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing. The property is located in a remote and peaceful part of the island. It has excellent internet access and a decent outdoor gym. Since it is right by the sea, you can enjoy walking or running along the coast to the nearest town, Mavrikianon. One important thing to mention is that the property does not have direct access to the sea. To swim, you need to go to either Plaka Beach, which requires a minimum spend of €40 per person to use the sunbeds, or to Mavrikianon Beach, which is much more affordable at €5 per person for the entire day. Mavrikianon Beach is very pleasant and close to markets where you can buy drinks. There are also some good food and drink spots nearby, such as Rudi’s Bar, a British-style pub, and Porto Rino, which serves great pizzas. Make sure to skip Nico’s Fish Tavern and try the Ferryman instead — you won’t regret it. What we found most frustrating was the lack of mosquito screens on the windows. Sleeping with the windows open was not really an option, even though the natural breeze was wonderful. Our room had air conditioning, but we tend to get sick sleeping with it on. There was a ceiling fan as well, but it is a shame to miss out on the fresh air simply because of a missing screen. The breakfast was also a disappointment. There were very few options, the coffee was not good, and the omelettes were overcooked. The most inconvenient part of our stay was the parking system. You have to check in and out with security every time, which felt excessive and time-consuming. It gave the impression of entering a high-security zone, not a relaxing holiday resort. Overall, it was a good experience with some nice features, but for the price, it lacks comfort and convenience in a few key areas. .

It was not peak season, maybe because of that staffs were not so prepared. I waited long time for the pick up from the reception to the hotel room, same for when I tried to ask for an umbrella and other information. Staffs seemed always busy talking on the phone or with each other. My door had some problems , you need some skills to open it, the shuttle bus driver spent five minutes opening it. Staffs in the restaurants were friendly, fairly speaking, the buffet restaurant was quite nice, catering diverse and delicious food. The seafood restaurant served a set menu, for which I held high expectations since I was only allowed to replace one buffet dinner for a la cart restaurant. Food itself was fair, albeit overseasoned( to me was too salty), and two or three dishes will be served at the same time and honestly they were not even hot. Room service was very efficient and the room was always clean. Private pool was nice, thought it was cold and windy now. So check the weather before going, sunny days and rainy ones are totally different experience. Hotel beach was beautiful, but again, I didn’t get my Paloma cocktail after waiting for half an hour. They provided interesting shows in the evening , I pitifully missed it but you need to have a look, performer are quite passionate. And about transportation, you can choose either hotel’s pickup that is expensive but convenient, or the local bus ( i chose KTEL, it’s very comfortable but please check the timetable on the website). This place is distant to everywhere, you can use a nearby supermarket that has everything at a fair price. If possible, you’d better rent a car, which could significantly improve your experience . I didn’t enjoy myself this time, somehow because of my personal affairs, hopefully you have a good time there!

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing retreat or a base to explore Crete, The Royal Senses delivers on every front. The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring the island, with easy access to nearby beaches, charming villages, and historical sites. The staff also went above and beyond to offer recommendations and assist with arranging excursions. Overall, The Royal Senses Hotel is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Cretan hospitality. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable stay in Crete. I was waiting more from the hotel… I don’t think the pictures shows exactly what the hotel offer… specially the pools… Me and my boyfriend had a very bad situation. We went to a tour in Santorini and the Ferry boat was late on the way back. Our guide called the hotel asking for a late dinner for us and the hotel said they would provide. When we reached in the hotel we saw that they put our food ON THE FLOOR, close to the room door. I made a mistake (I assume) I wanted hang out that thing saying “ make up my room” but I choose the wrong side and put there “ do not disturb “ But if our guide called the hotel saying that we were in Santorini of course they could go into the room to put our food in the fridge or keep in at the bar… I went down and talked to a guy in the repception showed him the picture I attached here and he answered me that was my mistake putting the “do not disturb” at the door and he could do nothing for us, we should eat that food that was on the floor 😱😡. No excuses for this… On the day after I talked to the manager and she apologized and gave us a voucher for the lunch. We apologized but I will never forget this situation…

I have to say my experience at Acro Suites fell below my expectations. The overall experience, apart from the hotel itself, was nowhere near what I would consider a true 5-star experience. It is a beautiful property and definitely a perfect spot for an Instagram post, but beyond the aesthetics, the actual experience was lacking. The F&B offering was below average, and the room service/housekeeping standards were disappointing. The room cleaning was not carried out properly — empty glasses and wine bottles from the first day were still left in our room until the day we checked out. My partner also had a fall at the resort due to poor lighting at night. What was most disappointing was that no duty manager followed up or checked in with us afterwards to see how his recovery was going. For a 5-star resort, I expected a much higher level of attention to detail, service, and genuine care for guests. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet the standards expected from a luxury property.

Overall, you will not be disappointed at this hotel with anything. As for improvements, there could be fountains to wash off the sand off the feet which is commonly seen normally but wasn’t available here with a long beach. The staff are always greeting us with a simile! It’s super duper busy so things get a bit hectic. When we first checked it, a member of staff was a little impatient with some questions…the food is so abundant. In fact, too much but with kids, it’s convenient. Good clientele- everyone minds their own business, trying to relax. Some more signage could help around the hotel as it’s massive..Finally, the second room in the family room has sofas instead of beds which are not comfortable. They can have options with two proper bedrooms because with growing kids, they don’t want to be squeezed and uncomfortable on holiday. The hotel is very good, the environment is beautiful, it has its own beach, lying on the beach and listening to the sea, and the waiter gives water, it is really pleasant. The service is also good. Seeing that we are staying for four people, an extra bed was given, and a quilt was spread on the tatami, which is very thoughtful.

All of the staff were amazing. Super friendly and helpful. They took care of us like family. Especially the beach bar staff were #1. We were with a large group of friends and they were so attentive and added a lot of laughter and fun to our experience. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This was one of many hotels we looked at but after so many positive reviews about the hotel and the staff it was a no brainer to book and we weren’t disappointed. The staff go out of their way to help you always with a friendly smile. The hotel is clean and adults only makes it a bonus. It’s a 10 second walk from the beach front. The beach is a cove never over crowded and the water is crystal clear and shallow for a long way. Plenty of little shops and places to eat out in this little village. Breakfast in the hotel was good, tasty. Not spoilt for choice but plenty for whatever your tastes. Pool area is great always get a bed. But we mostly went to the beach. There’s a car hire place nearby and a trip to Chania Old Town is an absolute must do. Would come back here again for sure and to this lovely hotel. Highly recommend it.
