"The hotel's cleanliness, ambiance, and facilities are all excellent, and the rooms are comfortable. However, what was extremely disappointing was the hotel's handling of late checkout. Although we were only about an hour and a half past the normal checkout time and were prepared to pay a fee, we were charged 95 Euros for an extension until only 2 PM. This price seems highly unreasonable, both in terms of the standard charge and the actual service received. What's even more regrettable is the hotel's lack of flexibility, especially given its high room rates and brand positioning. A 95 Euro charge for such a short extension felt more like an attempt to generate additional revenue. While the hotel's physical amenities are commendable, this experience severely impacted our overall stay and made us reconsider whether we would choose this hotel again in the future."

"When I checked in, they asked if I was a member for a potential upgrade. I gave them my member number and was asked if I preferred a city view or a sea view. I chose sea view, but they gave me a room that was definitely not a sea view, claiming it was an upgrade. I then checked my booking and realized my original room type didn't specify a city view, meaning I could have chosen a sea view anyway. The main issue is they gave me a non-sea view room and still insisted they upgraded me to a sea view. I contacted Ctrip twice, but nothing was resolved, and even their customer service agreed with my frustration towards the hotel. You can see in the video below whether this is a sea view room. Honestly, if they didn't want to upgrade me, they could have just said so, and I wouldn't have forced them. The problem is they didn't upgrade me but still expected me to be grateful for an 'upgrade' to what they called a 'sea view room'."

"The pros are the spacious rooms and the hotel's large size with comprehensive facilities, especially the extensive conference center. The breakfast offers great value for money. The cons are that it's too old, especially the room's air conditioning; the noise it makes is unbearable, probably due to a dust-clogged internal air filter. I had to turn it off. I also assumed a hotel close to the airport would have a shuttle service, but it didn't."

"The most satisfying hotel from my Barcelona trip! Considering its quality and location, it's probably the best value for money among all the hotels I compared. It's right in front of the cathedral square, and the subway is super convenient. The breakfast offers a wide variety, and it's much more cost-effective if included in the room rate than buying it separately. The shampoo and lotion are from Bulgari. The front desk asked us beforehand if we preferred a street-view room or a quieter one facing inwards. Street-view rooms can be a bit noisy but come with a balcony that offers a view (my room type was a bit to the side). The hotel room also has a free capsule coffee machine. The rooftop bar is very popular because of its great views, but you have to make a purchase to stay. Housekeeping is very clean. The only downside is that laundry costs extra and isn't cheap. The elevator is quite small, fitting a maximum of 3-4 people. I had originally planned to stay a night in a nearby town and pick up my luggage the next day, but the front desk said they couldn't store overnight luggage, which is understandable."

"The hotel's location is excellent; we could walk to Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, and the Gothic Quarter. The facilities are relatively new, and the room size is good. The air conditioning is quiet and heats effectively, and the shower has great hot water pressure, which was wonderful for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The service was also fantastic. Our flight arrived in Barcelona in the morning, and when we went straight to the hotel, the front desk warmly welcomed us and allowed us to check in early, which was a huge relief and helped us rest and recover from our travels sooner!"

"From the moment I stepped into the hotel, from the greeter at the door, front desk staff, and lobby manager to the restaurant and bar, and room service, every single staff member greeted me with a smile and offered warm, attentive service. This truly showcased the quality of an established five-star hotel. While the furniture, bathroom facilities, and amenities in the room were indeed a bit dated, which is common in many older European hotels, the professional, warm, and thoughtful service completely made up for these shortcomings. The breakfast, once rated as the best in Europe, certainly lived up to its reputation. The rooftop bar offers a fantastic view of the Sagrada Familia. The hotel's location is superb, right in the middle of Passeig de Gràcia, surrounded by various restaurants, bars, and convenience stores. The room was spacious, and the bedding was comfortable. Facing away from the main street, it was incredibly quiet, and it even had a universal adapter. This is definitely one of the best choices for a trip to Barcelona."

"A short stay for of 2 days was booked with Triip.com for one adult and 2 children under 10, to join us who were booked in a day earlier for three days. Our three day booking was direct with the hotel, half board. The hotel is marked 'adults recommended' and they sure discourage children, by seeking to charge per occupancy rather than simply on a cost per room. The Trip site quite fairly offered the room at the rate for two adults, with children under 12 free, so this is what was paid. Half board was added but at the rate for two adults, which would be greater than the actual hotel rate for one adult and two children, but I was happy to have reserved restaurant secured. Things got messy at check in, the hotel insisting that the room was occupied by three 'persons' as they put it and should therefore be 50% extra, though the room was the same type as the twin we had for two adults. The Hotel also insisted that only breakfast was provided, and tried to argue that the B2B rate from the third party (Trip) was insufficient. I politely pointed out that the discounts provided to third party agents was no concern of the customer, and referred to my booking voucher which clearly stated I had booked a twin room, into which was going 1 adult, two very small children, and that breakfast and dinner was paid for, with the rate for 1 adult being greater than twice the local charge for a child. They were impossible to deal with, and I left the reception angry and upset. I contacted the Trip representative and by that evening it was sorted. Full marks to Trip, zero to the hotel. As for our stay, the hotel is excellent, but with room to improve. Dinner in the Buffet only commences at 8.00, resulting in quite the bunfight if the restaurant is busy. It was on that Thursday, a national holiday, and it was impossible to order wine and beverages after we seated, with a single service person taking orders. We ate our food dry, and finally placed an order for wine and water while eating dessert, some 40 minutes after seating. The same bottleneck occurred the next morning at breakfast, with the four snail paced Nespresso machines totally incapable of dealing with the coffee demands. Worse, all 4 machines overheated and went into 'service mode'. Worse again, these obviously unsuitable barista machines were the only source of hot water for Tea or infusions, but with no seperate hot water dispenser faucet. You had to stand for almost 2 minutes while the machine slowly dispensed through the coffee outlet, a single mug of hot water, to the frustration of the queue behind. This needs sorting, it took ages to get a breakfast beverage every morning, and on the second day I had to return 4 floors to my room and fill my cup from the in room Nespresso maker. I'd advise to bring a travel kettle with you. Otherwise, a fine hotel, but the restaurant problems and discriminatory pricing for children are an issue, so not a hotel for children."

"This hotel came highly recommended on Xiaohongshu, and my stay was excellent! The room was spacious with a very stylish layout; the long bar counter was quite practical. It was spotlessly clean, the bedding was super comfortable, and the hairdryer had decent power. The breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of fresh options, including freshly sliced ham. I ate so much each morning that I didn't need a second meal until 3 or 4 in the afternoon! I'd say it's on par with a top-tier Atour hotel in China."

"The location is truly unique, with the Columbus Monument just across the way and a seaside shopping center only about a hundred meters straight ahead. From the hotel balcony, you can even see Barcelona's famous 'unfinished project' (200 years old)."
