The vehicles were new and clean, the staff were friendly, and picking up and returning the car was simple and convenient. Although the rental company was not located inside the airport terminal, there was a shuttle bus service to and from the terminal, which was very convenient.

For the first time, I rented a Chevrolet Suburban, a large SUV. I loved the spacious interior and comfortable ride. It also had better fuel economy than expected, making it ideal for long-distance driving. However, because Hertz was so popular, the shuttle service from LAX to check-in took a while.

I drove a 2025 June model Chevrolet Blazer with about 1,000 miles on it. It was in excellent condition, and I felt like I could have driven it to top speed if only there weren't speed limits. It cornered smoothly, and all my passengers slept soundly. The trunk held four 24-inch bags, two carry-ons, and three backpacks. It was a huge help on this trip! Thank you.

The boarding and disembarking area for the shuttle bus is a little confusing, but if you follow the signs you'll get there. It's nice to get off right in front of the terminal rather than at the next one. (I'd already told the driver which terminal I was getting off at, and he told me to get off there.)
It would be nice if they checked the condition of the car with me. It would also be reassuring if they wrote the name of the person who checked it down so that it was clear who was responsible.
Overall, I would recommend it.
Basically, everything went smoothly.

A note about picking up the car: Your car model is likely unavailable, so they'll give you a higher model, adding over $20 per day. I've experienced this myself, but I didn't want it. They also asked for insurance, but I said I already had domestic third-party insurance and didn't need it. I showed them the details on my Ctrip booking form, and they finally stopped pushing me and gave me a Hyundai Tucson.
The car drives very well, and the automatic cruise control works great. I just found it a bit fuel-efficient, getting less than 500 kilometers on a tank. Midway through the trip, the car reminded me it needed an oil change. I notified Sixt, but they didn't respond until two days before returning the car. The return went smoothly. The inspector walked around the car, checked it had full fuel, and issued a report with no new damage. I signed and left. I rented the car and drove 8,000 kilometers, taking a photo at El Capitan in Yosemite.

This was my first time renting a car overseas. Trip.com offered convenient pick-up and return locations, and the lowest prices, which was great. The agent responded quickly to my email inquiries, which was great. The car I originally reserved took two hours longer to return, so I ended up paying extra for a much better car. It was a stroke of luck. The US is a vast country, so you should always get a good car. I drove 2,800 km, and driving fatigue was reduced, so I think it was a great choice.
