The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the planetarium. The airport shuttle stop is just a minute's walk to the left when you exit. The hotel is quiet, clean, and has a great design. The room size isn't huge, but it's perfectly sufficient for a solo traveler. The only downside is that breakfast is a set menu with no drinks, and it got a bit repetitive after four days. Overall, it's great value for money, and I recommend it!

This hotel boasts a perfect location, directly opposite JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station, and is conveniently connected to the station and bus terminal via an underground passage. This makes it incredibly easy to access the Shinkansen, city trams, and airport buses. What's even better is that the hotel lobby and some guest rooms offer breathtaking views, allowing you to take in the magnificent Sakurajima volcano and the dazzling city night lights. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are spotless and well-equipped, truly embodying the consistent cleanliness and thoughtful design characteristic of Japanese hotels. Enjoying the breakfast buffet in the morning, featuring dishes prepared with local Kagoshima ingredients, was a highlight. In particular, getting to savor the traditional and delicious 'chicken rice' made with rich chicken broth was a fantastic way to energize for the day's adventures. From check-in to check-out, the hotel staff consistently displayed professional and warm hospitality, making the entire stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Even as just a stop along my journey, it provided a level of comfort and convenience that far exceeded my expectations.

Art Hotel Kagoshima offers a very positive stay overall, largely thanks to its outstanding staff, who consistently went out of their way to assist and make guests feel welcome. I strongly recommend requesting a room with a view of Sakurajima—one of Japan’s most active volcanoes—as waking up to this dramatic landscape is truly priceless. The hotel’s location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby bus routes. While the rooms are comfortable, the building is clearly dated and would benefit from significant renovations to better match the quality of service.

Perfect for a relaxing Kagoshima getaway. The shuttle service is super convenient for exploring the city, and combined with a one-day transport pass, a two-night stay is just right. The hotel's on-site hot springs are also very comfortable, and you can even catch the sunrise in the morning!

Had a great stay at Daiwa. The location is so great. It’s across the street from the airport bus stop. Across the street is all The Kagoshima Island View hop on and hop off bus stop, and buses/trams to Sakurajima, Kagoshima Chuo train station. It’s right next to the Tenmonkan shopping arcade and tons of food and bar options. You can also walk to so many tourist attractions. You can’t go wrong with this hotel based on location alone. The rooms are bigger than average and clean. The washrooms especially were an impressive size with great appliances from Reha. There are so many amenities to choose from at the front desk lotions to hair milk to Epsom salt, different coffee pods and tea bags. There is a self serve laundry on the 8th floor that costs 600 yen. The hotel is quiet for the fact that it’s located in the center of all the action. My room had a beautiful view of Sakurajima and the city. Will definitely stay here next time I come to Kagoshima!

The hotel lobby is directly accessible from the second floor of JR Chuo Station. The location is excellent, making it convenient for both travel and shopping. Before check-in and after check-out, you can self-store your luggage; just ask the front desk for a card to scan yourself, which is very user-friendly. The front desk staff are available 24 hours and are always warm and friendly. The hotel has two restaurants, one Japanese and one Western. The Western restaurant partners with Pronto on the first floor and offers set meals. The Japanese restaurant is a buffet. Neither restaurant has a huge variety of food, but there's enough to fill you up. The Western option is better for guests in a hurry as it offers takeaway. The only drawback is the lack of a hot spring, making this the only hotel on our Kyushu trip where we couldn't enjoy a bath. However, the front desk provides free bath salts, so you can still have a relaxing soak in your room's bathtub. The bath salts also have a pleasant fragrance, which somewhat made up for it.

This time, my friend and I chose this place to unwind and escape our daily stresses. The room was spacious and clean, the food was delicious, and the hot springs were absolutely wonderful. We had a great time and felt completely refreshed! After checking out, we visited Kirishima Shrine since it's nearby, then explored some power spots, fully enjoying everything Kirishima had to offer before heading home. We even said, 'Let's come back again soon!' Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel. They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient. It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking. Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

We arrived quite late, so they upgraded our room. We stayed for several nights and had a fantastic experience. Traveling with a 1-year-old, they provided a bed rail and even building blocks, which our baby absolutely loved. The room also had a microwave, perfect for preparing baby food anytime. The only downside was that during the day, there was occasionally some music and what sounded like broadcasts that were a bit noisy, but it was quiet at night. The hotel's location is excellent; it was very convenient to grab late-night snacks, and popular restaurants were right next door.

AAnonymous UserThe service was very good. I drove there alone on a rainy day and the staff was very considerate and provided me with a towel to dry myself. The hotel's breakfast was delicious with a wide variety. The hotel facilities are very complete, and probably because there are not many guests, most of them do not require waiting in line.

KKarena 872We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers! We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down. Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find. Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!

GGuest UserAmazing! Spacious rooms with views in all directions. Everything was thought out to the last detail, even the tea and coffee set featuring local teas set the mood for rest and relaxation in such a wonderful place. Breakfasts and dinners were on par with the best restaurants, with sushi and wagyu available every evening. The lounge bar delighted us with interesting cocktails, and the onsen with its ocean view allowed us to truly enjoy the trip.

DDohadotongOur Third Visit to Ibusuki Royal Hotel – A Perfect Family Getaway This was our third stay at the Ibusuki Royal Hotel. On our previous family trips, we stayed next door at the Iwasaki Hotel, which is now unfortunately closed. The Royal Hotel is beautifully situated right by the seaside, offering stunning views of Mount Kaimon from the side — the scenery is simply breathtaking. Although the facilities are a bit dated, everything is immaculately clean, and the staff are exceptionally kind and attentive, making our stay truly enjoyable. The spacious guest rooms and relaxing atmosphere reflect the charm of a seaside resort. The hot spring baths, including the open-air onsen, were the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day. The breakfast buffet was also impressive — the quality and variety exceeded our expectations, and our whole family was delighted. Another plus is the hotel’s convenient location — within a 10-minute walk you’ll find the Daiei Shopping Mall, where you can easily pick up local foods and souvenirs. If you rise early, I highly recommend taking a morning stroll along the beach in front of the hotel. It feels like stepping into a scene from a movie — a peaceful and beautiful start to the day. If you’re planning a family trip, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. We visited by rental car from Kagoshima, but it seems that a shuttle service from JR Ibusuki Station is also available. A truly wonderful stay — we look forward to returning again!

EEleonora Del BianchiThis place seemed great at first sight, the room and the bathtub are spacious (mine was a double room and I was solo). There's blue light at the lift that creates an ambiance. But the onsen is really poorly organized - it's one pool with nowhere to rest your head and relax - the mist sauna was not available. And I felt very upset that they have welcome drinks on the 13 floor and nobody told me anything... I've learned because I was checking until what time the onsen was open at the paper they give at check in and saw the small info. When I went upstairs was already more than 6 ( it's only until 6) and the guy told me it was not available anymore and I should go downstairs. But I could see there were some other teas that were not downstairs... In fact I had one in my hand and he made me return it. I went downstairs to complain and the woman at reception went up and brought me one tea already prepared, because it needs a special machine... But I wanted to have one for me and not only one already prepared ..(i actually threw it away 🥺 after talking to that rude man I would not take a tea that he prepared and I didn't see) In general this was very unprofessional that information was not given, the man saying I could not take anything, and her taking a long time to return with a prepared tea that I didn't want at that moment. Breakfast was good, could have hot chocolate instead of coffee..

HHuifeideyuerbushanggouThe hotel offers a shuttle service, which makes getting around very convenient. Right outside the hotel, there's a tram stop that takes you to the pier, where you can catch a boat to Sakurajima for sightseeing. The hotel's breakfast is quite substantial, with plenty of fruit, and the golden kiwi was especially sweet. All the staff were attentive and thoughtful. The hotel also has a free gym, and right next door is a hot spring ♨️ where you can enjoy a full soak or a foot bath; the spa services, however, are paid. Overall, everything was excellent. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. I hope for friendship between China and Japan and world peace 🤝🏻
