"Hotel location central for visiting Harrogate tourist areas. Premier twin was adequate. Comfy beds had lovely cotton linen. Efficient and not too noisy aircon. Shower over bath was a surprise. Toiletries provided were lovely. Very small mugs and glasses. The receptionist was not very forthcoming in what she was doing. Very surprised to have to fill out all my details again and my friend in another another room had to provide her credit card for a room I'd paid for. There was confusion about payment and then our card did not unlock the door of the room we had been given. We were put in a quiet zone of the hotel, which was fine but we hadn't asked for. We did not eat or drink in the hotel. Efficient and reasonable parking. Lifts very busy in the morning."

"If you are Chinese, I strongly suggest thinking twice before staying here.
I was first assigned a room in the side building that reeked of mould and had a broken bathroom sink. After complaining, I was moved to an accessible room on the same floor, despite having no accessibility needs — no bathtub, an absurdly tiny sink, and a mirror positioned for wheelchair users. If this was considered an appropriate replacement, perhaps they should have provided a wheelchair too.
What made the room allocation even more questionable was that the floor, with around 11–12 rooms, appeared largely empty. And it certainly wasn’t because of good soundproofing — I could clearly hear guests talking in other rooms.
So why was I first given a mouldy, broken room, and then an entirely unsuitable accessible room when the floor did not even appear full?
Separately, there was a white female receptionist whose behaviour made the experience even worse: dramatic eye-rolling, a condescending attitude, followed by the most artificial “professional” smile imaginable.
I cannot prove the motivation behind the room allocation, but as a Chinese guest, the entire experience left me feeling singled out and discriminated against.
A terrible room can be an accident. Repeatedly questionable treatment is harder to explain away."

"We were very disappointed with the check-in experience. The hotel assigned us rooms in a wing where the air conditioning was not working. It appeared that the staff were already aware of the problem, as my friends and I seemed to be the only guests staying in that entire wing. Unfortunately, this happened during a heatwave, making the rooms unbearably hot and very uncomfortable.
I had to walk back to reception to request a room change. The staff initially offered to bring us a fan and said the hotel was fully booked, but that was not an acceptable solution in such extreme temperatures. After I insisted, my friends and I were finally moved to rooms with working air conditioning.
What made the situation even more confusing was that guests who checked in after us were assigned rooms on other floors with functioning air conditioning. That left us wondering why we had been placed in rooms with a known problem in the first place.
Guests should never be checked into rooms with a major maintenance issue like this, especially during a heatwave. While we appreciated that the hotel eventually moved us, the whole experience left us with serious doubts about how room allocations were handled —- is it because i booked via Trip.com ?"

"I am very disappointed with my room assignment.
Before my arrival, I specifically requested rooms near the elevator and connecting rooms (or at least rooms close to each other) because I am traveling with my young children. Unfortunately, none of my requests were accommodated.
Instead, I was assigned two separate rooms on different floors (2nd and 6th floors). To make matters worse, each floor requires a separate key card to access, making it extremely inconvenient and nearly impossible for my family to move between rooms. Additionally, one of the rooms is located at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevator, despite my request for a room nearby.
These arrangements are the exact opposite of what I requested and create significant difficulties when traveling with children. I made these requests in advance because they are important for my family’s safety and convenience, yet they appear to have been completely overlooked."

"This hotel is really great! It's only a 5-10 minute walk to Butcher Street, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is very convenient for shopping. It's also clean and has air conditioning. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the breakfast is a bit simple. Other than that, out of all the hotels I've stayed at during my time in the UK, I think this one is the best."

Have a taste of the high life at the Theatre Royal, then hear the thunder of hooves racing home at York Racecourse. Dislike - loud and irritating extractor fan in bathroom that turns on whenever you turn on the bathroom lights. No floor towel provided to dry your feet after shower. No facial tissue box provided. Very slow WiFi + York town very poor coverage for Three 3 network.

Breakfast was a typical English breakfast, and it was included by default with our stay. There were no vegetables or fruits, but it was filling enough. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station. Recommended for a short stay."

A small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.

Guest UserYes the room was dated, and yes the room was hot. However the room was clean, comfortable and a fan was provided to help circulate the warm air. The windows have restricted openings most likely due to H&S but with the fan it was enough to move the warm air out and allow cooler air in.
Check up was chaotic but the lady apologized and explained they had a member of the staff off sick. She worked her way through everyone as quickly as she could giving everyone the same warm welcome.
Breakfast was enjoyable and the spa area was a delight offering everything you need.
After checking out I realized I left my sunglasses in the room. The cleaning team were so helpful allowing me access to retrieve them and to double check I had everything

Guest UserHotel was quite easy to find & access was quite good. Good car parking arrangement with the council for 2 day's. Disappointment the hotel didn't offer an evening meal so we had to go out & find it which wasn't ideal as when booking we noticed a restaurant on site. Only coach parties would be entertainment apparently.
Breakfast covered hot & continental which was good to us.
Our room however was far from satisfactory to us but we tolerated it & didn't complain. The bathroom door handle was troublesome to open so instead of fixing it they put a sign on the door telling us what to do.. The bathroom blind was also broken.
The very small room had a tiny bed which was far from comfortable. We paid a lot for 2 nights which we regret so alas we won't be returning.

ArtistaThe grand exterior of the hotel is impressive, but the rooms are very dated. There is no air conditioning, so booking a room with a window is a must for summer. I booked a window room, though the window required some effort to open. Some rooms do provide fans.
On the plus side, the price is budget-friendly, and the location is incredibly convenient, right next to the beach and the cliff tram, with shops within easy walking distance.
Note that check-out is early at 10AM, and late check-out requires an extra fee. Also, the hotel does not offer free parking, you will need to find paid street parking nearby. It isn’t expensive, but it takes time to find a space during holidays.

Guest UserThis is an amazing boutique hotel, they have a chain of 4 hotels in England, you can book without hesitation. And their shower amenities are simply delightful. I didn't think to buy them there, so I had to search for the brand in London to bring some home. The bar serves excellent cocktails. It's the perfect hotel for spending time in York.

Beautiful hotel only 10 minutes walk from the city centre
Our room was clean and cosy
In the room was hairdryer, iron and ironing board as well as tea/coffee facilities and an electric fan which was definitely needed with temps reaching 29 degrees 🥵
The outdoor area was stunning with lots of seating and little pods to dine in of an evening very pretty all lit up at night
All the staff were friendly and helpful
We will definitely return in the near future.

Guest UserOverall, I wouldn't really recommend it. The location is okay, just outside the city walls. However, all the rooms are in the attic, requiring two flights of very narrow stairs, making it impossible to bring up even a slightly larger suitcase. The floors are uneven, and in some areas, it feels like they could easily collapse; even with a carpet, they still creak when you walk on them.
What's even more frustrating is that the attic is already stuffy, and a constant instant noodle smell drifts up from the downstairs restaurant. On the night we checked in, we found one of the air conditioners wasn't working, but the front desk said the maintenance staff had already left for the day and could only provide us with a small electric fan.
