"The Connaught is the name of the province Galway is in, and a guide later told me this is the largest hotel in all of Galway. So, the good thing is that the hotel is huge and quite professional, as it's split into several buildings that are quite far apart. On the way to my room, I even passed by a public gym and a childcare center. Both the above-ground and underground parking lots are very spacious, which is great if you're driving. The downside of such a large hotel, however, is that you shouldn't expect much in the way of service. Room cleaning usually didn't happen until around 3 PM, and there were no slippers provided by default (good thing I brought a pair from my Dublin hotel!). The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, but luckily, I didn't catch the heatwave that was happening in the UK at the time. There's a supermarket and post office right opposite the hotel where you can buy bus passes and groceries. Plus, there are several different bus stops that go to Galway city center, so transportation is very convenient."

"Nice hotel, But I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathtub. When I added hot water to the bathtub, a lot of dust and even a hair came out.
I had to wash and rinse the tub several times to get it clean.
I understand that hotel service is low in Ireland, but this is a 4-star hotel. The price for rooms is high for Europe. It would be great, at least nice to clean.

"The hotel's surroundings are really nice, and there's a parking lot right at the entrance. The Western restaurant on the first floor is delicious, though it closes a bit early on weekend nights, at 8 PM. The room was decent. My room on the second floor had a balcony. Even though there's no air conditioning, the temperature difference between day and night here is quite significant, so it was cool enough in the evenings."

"I recently stayed at the G Hotel. While there were some wonderful aspects, it didn’t quite live up to the glamorous impression it gives online. The location is a bit away from town and not truly on the lake as described. About half the rooms overlook the parking lot, which is disappointing. The foyer feels more like a three-star hotel — not the luxury welcome I expected. The hallways to the rooms were poorly lit, and the carpet made it difficult to roll luggage, even with a great suitcase.
On the positive side, the staff was absolutely amazing. Every person we encountered went above and beyond, delivering genuine five-star service. The hotel rooms themselves were spacious, stylish, and very comfortable — really lovely once you got past the initial impression.
What stood out to me is that just down the road, the Galmont Hotel lobby was exquisite — exactly the kind of first impression I would have expected from the G Hotel. If the G could match its service and rooms with a lobby and setting to match its image, it would truly be a standout"

"We stayed on the 5th of September. It's a beautiful hotel.
We enjoyed everything about this place except the unbearable heat in the room. It was impossible to sleep. There was a portable fan but it was very noisy.And even when it's on, it wasn't helpful. No air conditioner. We had a very poor sleep.
And no matter how much we enjoyed the gym, swimming pool, food, friendly staff and the atmosphere of the hotel, we would not stay here next time."

"Pleasant short stay in this hotel on outskirts of Galway city. Easy access via bus to city centre. Convenient car park. I had a good meal in the bar/restaurant which I thoroughly enjoyed. Service was prompt despite the fact that a bus load of people arrived in to the restaurant/bar at the same time as myself. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and family and will definitely stay here again."

"The hotel exudes a sense of bygone times; it was a very pleasant stay. The staff was super friendly, and this hotel, despite being a bit of a distance from the center of Galway, is definitely recommended. The only downside was that the Pullman restaurant was closed."

Happy Trip@worldThis is my terrible experience during my Ireland trip. No aircondition, double lock out of order, iron doesnt work When we reported those issues to reception, no fixing, no room change arranged. 10mins later, they sent me an iron 😔
As viewed, the hotel lobby is nice & good beakfast. Hope they have improvement in future. 🙏

The room and bed were both very spacious, and there was plenty of parking. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly. The location is great, right on the edge of the city, which made it easy to find and convenient for getting onto the main road shortly after leaving.

The hotel is very cozy, with excellent service and good facilities. Breakfast is 15 euros per person, not very extensive, but still acceptable. There is a bar in the lobby. The hotel has its own parking lot, which is very convenient. I would definitely stay here again when I visit Galway next time.

Guest UserWe were given a beautiful room over looking the Circle of Life garden and the sea further on. See photo. Noise from jacuzzi below was bothersome in the morning and I had requested a quiet room, which it was apart from the engines bubbling below. Service in restaurant was incredibly slow for breakfast. Breakfast offering was good; not much pastry wise, but lots of fruits, gorgeous cheese, avocados even, good quality Oj. But the Coffee was sludge and undrinkable. Though the View over Galway bay is beyond compare. Room was comfortable though dated but very clean except at one point in the shower I looked down to see a chunk of long black hair stuck to my foot… 2000% not mine. That was pretty gross. It must have been sitting in the drain as I’d have noticed before getting in. Cockroaches in the shower are a more welcome site than that. Bathroom is modern and shower had good power. Bed was soft but comfortable. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. Pool is small, sauna is great. Pool not too clean/ Two discarded plasters on the side. Location is unbeatable.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, situated at one end of the main street with the riverfront right on the other side. El Square is also just a pleasant walk away at the opposite end of the main street. The only minor issue was that the air conditioning wasn't cooling very effectively, but fortunately, the weather wasn't hot, so it wasn't a problem.

The location is good, close to restaurants and supermarkets. I didn’t like that so many things were broken. The shelf in the bathroom was loose and tilted, the wall lights next to the beds needed tightened as well, as they flipped on the side. The bathroom door handle and lock didn’t work. We had some long dark hair in our room. A lot was broken or crooked.
It was ok for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer. The girl at the desk was not very knowledgeable regarding her surroundings. I’ve asked about the Burren.
The Italian restaurant was good, the breakfast in the morning was good as well. However I emailed the hotel for gluten free options but I didn’t get any.

One of the highlights was the breakfast—absolutely fantastic! There was a wide selection of fresh and delicious options, catering to different tastes and dietary needs. It was well worth it and a great way to start the day.
Overall, Hyde Hotel is an excellent option for a city break, offering both comfort and a top-quality breakfast experience.

It takes about ten minutes to walk from Galway Railway Station. It is not in the center and the location is a bit remote. But the room is big enough and the bed is very big. However, it is not cleaned every day and you have to stand in the bathtub to take a shower, which is not very convenient. Convenient, overall satisfied!

vivian91130The bed was very comfortable, the twin bed was 1.5 per bed and it was very clean. Downstairs is a gas station and convenience store. The breakfast was very good and the croissant was delicious. There is a little distance from the seaside in Galway, but the transit road is already very satisfactory.
