"The hotel and its facilities are so complete that you can just enjoy your stay within the hotel itself. Breakfast is comprehensive, parking is spacious, and the rooms are clean. However, the check-in process was slow, and our room wasn't ready until 3:30 PM. I booked two rooms, and one of them wasn't ready until 4:30 PM. When we finally received the keys, we found that the pillows didn't have pillowcases, with the excuse given that they weren't available yet. There was also no bath mat, even though the keys had already been handed over. Furthermore, there were still items left behind by the previous guest in the room."

"Honest review.. stay with the expectation of a 5-star hotel, but the experience is not comparable to the price.
The lobby and check-in process are quite good, the welcome drink is refreshing, and the concierge helpfully carried the luggage. Basement parking is also relatively easy.
Unfortunately, many important details reduce comfort. The door of the room does not have a stopper so it is often slammed loud and noisy. Soundproofing was not good, the sound from the next room was still heard. The room size is relatively small for the standard 5-star, and there is no minibar at all, even a paid one. For mineral water, use plastic bottles, not the premium ones with glass bottles. The lighting system was confusing and the bathroom lighting was too dim.
There are 4 elevators but it is very slow.. there is often a buildup of guests.
The pool area is also less well-organized such as having no concept and not weather-friendly because there is no shaded area. It's ridiculous, having to pay an extra 200rb for access to the whirlpool and jacuzzi.
Breakfast was a disappointment: the menu options were less varied, the taste was standard, and the service was less warm (officers lacked smiles).
Overall, I wouldn't really mind these things if the room price wasn't this muc, but with a rate above Rp 2 million per night, this experience is less worth it. Compared to 5-star hotels in Jogja and its surroundings, it is still quite far behind."

"We stayed during Ied Mubarak holiday for 4 days/3 nights in April 2025. We booked 2 connecting rooms for my family (4 persons). Each room provided safety box but no function at all. if you see the direction on the safety box (see the photo), it supposed has red button inside the box but no button at all. The safety box used 4 battery. In my room has only 2 batteries out of 4 and already expired since March 2018. My children' room has 4 battery but also not functioned. the button numbers and keys cant be pressed so we cant keep important and valuable items inside it. The swimming pool were crowded and the water was dirty. the hotel supposed to overall cleaning to the pool due to holiday seasons but the water obviously dirty. The parking lot is low maintenance, dirty, and rubbish everwhere. the Horison Ultima was only 3 years old last December 2024 as I saw from the stickwerck at lobby. The hotel was Star Hotel and changed to Horison Ultima. The parking lot was narrow and limited. For location is ok, near Java Mall. good for morning walk. the hotel staffs were polite and fast response. the amenities for 4* hotel is good enough. the mini fridge in the room is ok as well as the Aircon. If I may advise the management, please take serious attention to the cleanliness and maintenance also room refurbishment to the lousy interior inside as top priority."

"The hotel is still good even though it is an old hotel. The food for breakfast is not much and limited. Maybe I will only stay here once for breakfast. It is hot in the elevator because there is no air conditioning. Hopefully the hotel can invest in air conditioning in the elevator. I will bring a group to Semarang but because of the breakfast and the elevator, this hotel may not be my choice."

On the earthI always choose this hotel whenever I visit the city because it has never disappointed me. The location is excellent, with easy access to shopping malls, restaurants, and public transportation, making every trip very convenient. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and willing to help with any requests. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Considering the quality of the service and the great location, the price is very reasonable. It offers excellent value for money, and I will definitely stay here again on my next visit. Highly recommended!

Anonymous UserNice staycation at one of the 4-star hotels in the heart of Semarang, near Simpang Lima. It's a cool new hotel, clean, and has a strategic location. Right next to the hotel, there are plenty of food options, like Tegal goat satay and authentic Semarang Hapkie noodles, plus a Superindo supermarket across the street.
I often stay at this hotel chain for business trips. The breakfast menu has a good variety, including dim sum. The only downside is that the rooms don't have wardrobes, drawers, or anything like that, so there's no space to store belongings.
One more important thing: please offer more attractive big discounts so I'll always book through vendors like Trip.com.

My stay at Novotel Semarang was very satisfying overall; it truly lives up to its international brand reputation, with all aspects performing above average.
Excellent Location: The hotel is situated in a prime location in downtown Semarang, offering incredibly convenient transportation access to the Old Town (Kota Lama), popular attractions, and shopping malls. It's a top choice for both business travelers and tourists.
High Standard of Service and Dining: The staff were exceptionally warm and professional right from check-in. I especially want to praise their breakfast – the variety was impressive, with a wide selection of local Indonesian flavors and Western dishes, all prepared with great care.
Well-Equipped Facilities, Though Showing Some Age: The room was spacious, and the bedding was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. While it's clear the hotel has been around for a while and the decor is more classic and traditional, the overall cleanliness was spotless, and maintenance was excellent. Omah Alchy Cottages was, without question, the highlight of our trip to Karimunjawa Island. Everything about this place was exceptional.
The service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay memorable. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, providing the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the island.
What truly sets Omah Alchy apart, however, is its breathtaking location. Step outside your bungalow and you're right by the sea. The property has its own jetty stretching out over the water, which became our favorite spot every evening to watch the most spectacular sunsets. Seeing the sun sink into the horizon over the calm sea was simply unforgettable.
As an added bonus, guests can use the free canoes to paddle out on the water and enjoy the beautiful surroundings from a different perspective. It's the kind of place where you can completely switch off and appreciate the natural beauty of Karimunjawa.
If you're visiting Karimunjawa Island, do yourself a favor and stay here. Omah Alchy Cottages offers an incredible combination of stunning scenery, fantastic accommodation, and genuinely wonderful hospitality. We would return in a heartbeat.
