Theres a lot to be said for The Morritt Hotel and Spas superb location - at the gateway to the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by the Teesdale countryside yet just off the A66 a 5-minute drive from the market town of Barnard Castle where The Bowes Museum houses world-class collections of European fine and decorative art. The splendidly preserved Raby Castle is also at The Morritts doorstep. Rooms start at classic and go all the way up to executive; free Wi-Fi satellite TV and exclusive The Garage Spa toiletries are provided as standard. Theres also free parking on-site. An award-winning country house hotel with an equally acclaimed restaurant and spa - its little wonder that The Morritt is a Classic British Hotel. A Classic British Hotel / CB. Stay inspired.

"A lovely traditional country house hotel. The public rooms were just what you expected, old world charm, the food excellent but the best asset  was the friendly and helpful staff. Unable to comment on bedrooms as we were in an accessible room which wasn’t great, good parking though. Needs attention to basic customer requirements, overall a great few days"

The Trinity Neighborhood. Newcomers, friends or just weary travelers step onto the set of history at Hotel Indigo® Durham, whilst you explore our ‘perfect little city’. Our boutique hotel is moments from the historic Durham City Centre; perfectly located for an adventure. With the magnificent university, castle and world renowned Durham Cathedral just a short stroll from our doors, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The stage for our Hotel Indigo is the former Durham University building ‘Old Shire Hall’, where you’ll find Victorian façade spills out into our ancient and romantic neighborhood laden with historic pubs, cozy cafes and spellbinding churches, or slip away into the surrounding countryside and sleepy villages. Throughout you will spot little nods to our UNESCO World Heritage. Our cocktail lounge, meeting room and Marco Pierre White restaurant all retain their Victorian heritage whilst embracing contemporary popular culture, a nod to the city’s ancient history and bright future. Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill treats guests to signature steaks, timeless English and French classics, and a selection of tasty cocktails; the perfect gathering for friends and family for afternoon tea. Our contemporary boutique hotel bedrooms blend perfectly with the city’s Norman ancestry combining technology, style and comfort, and many with stunning views of Durham Cathedral.

"The size of the room is specious with sufficient space for storing luggage, and the floor is very clean and comfortable to walk on with bare feet, so feel free to leave your shoe by the door. As for the bed, it is very large and comfortable, providing you the high quality of sleeping without any problems. In the bathroom, it is not only very elegant and clean, but also provides unlimited hot water with satisfying water pressure from two types of shower heads. Moreover, there is a mini fridge placed in the lower closet near the wardrobe, feel free to drink the two bottles of spring water prepared by the host or store your own drinks or unfinished meals. In addition, there is a small safe above the fridge for depositing your valuables. In terms of the amenities on the ground floor, there is a high-end restaurant serving traditional English breakfast (e.g. egg benedict) in the morning, and the taste is fine. However, I am not a big fan of their lunch or dinner when you can have better options in nearby restaurants. Furthermore, there is a small bar just outside the restaurant. The Gym, coffee room and reception are at the LG level, and you will receive a 10% discount in the coffee room after check-in. The location is very close to the city center, train station and several main attractions such as the cathedral and castle. Overall, I enjoy my two-day stay very much, the price of the hotel is very cost-effective in terms of the four-star standards, providing an unforgettable experience for both tourists and business travelers."

"Reception staff was super friendly and very helpful a credit to the hotel. Room was clean with a lovely bed and warm powerful shower. Food served til 8.30pm which the food we had was lovely and would recommend, menu is rather small but they are good at accommodating e.g vegetarian however a little on the high price. I would say the bar is over priced for the stay however lovely open fire! The grounds are nice with a woodland behind. With a kids play area and a few added bits e.g giant chest set. Room was a little cold (room 25) with the heating in the room not working however a plug in was provided within the room and the hotel it’s self rather warm downstairs with working heating. My biggest concern was the windows the bathroom window faces out to the staff carpark and the blinds old, dirty and not working with dam or water damage above the windows ( which i expected given the age and price of the room) The hotel has a little dungeon which we were allowed to go down which added to the castle stay! The hotel has certain bits of armed men and knights bits on display. I felt with a small investment in displaying the castles history and strengthen the knight theme the dungeon could be a little hidden gem Ice cream parlour up the road on a working farm with kids play area, good selection of shops within 10 mins drive at a new retail park with cinema, plenty of restaurants, and supermarkets Would stay here again Overall would stay here again"

"Hotel was very clean and the staff are very helpful and attentive, however, their kitchen appears to be understaffed. The breakfast served by a waiter/waitress but on the first day,(Saturday), after ordering our breakfast we waited one hour before it came, on the second day we waited 45 mins before it arrived. By this time the toast and tea were cold."

Hampton by Hilton Stockton on Tees is based in the heart of Northshore. Enjoy easy access to major roads to travel round the Tees Valley, including Teesworks and Freeport. Explore the local area, take a walk-up Roseberry Topping, and go for a hike around the picturesque Cleveland Hills or North Yorkshire Moors National Park. You could always pop along to one of our many stunning beaches such as Seaton Carew, Redcar, and Saltburn-by-the-Sea and relax on the sand with the family with a bucket and spade. If you are an adventure seeker, why not try out the Tees Barrage White Water Centre and ride the rapids on the 95-metre course, one of the steepest in the UK, and only a six-minute drive from the hotel? Our hotel rooms are fresh and modern spaces with 50-inch HDTVs and good-sized work areas. Feel rested after a great night's sleep on the comfy bed and stay connected with free WiFi and plenty of device-charging spots. Start your day with Hampton's complimentary buffet breakfast.

"Very clean and modern hotel just a short walk from Stockton High Street (incidentally, only 16 minutes walk from Thornaby rail station which is the better option than Stockton station itself - ironic that the town that gave us the railways has a mostly abandoned rail station!) Reception staff were friendly and efficient allowing me to check in early to get to the Stockton Calling festival. Buffet style breakfast didn't disappoint either! Will definitely be returning!"

At 4 PM, during peak check-in time, I wasn't allowed priority for luggage retrieval. I was told to queue with everyone checking in, and the staff's attitude was extremely arrogant, making me feel discriminated against! My Uber was five minutes away, and I had a 4:40 PM train to London; waiting in line for luggage would definitely make me miss it! I waited for the front desk to finish with their current guest and then tried to explain my situation. However, the front desk disregarded the circumstances and insisted I queue up. I don't know if this lack of understanding is part of British culture; if so, I apologize (I hadn't considered 4 PM as peak check-in). If not, the hotel should apologize to me! In the end, even the British people queuing for check-in couldn't stand it. After consulting with a few people behind them, they let me cut in line. Retrieving my luggage took only about 30 seconds. Thankfully, I made my train, phew.

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.
