The Pirate Inn is a traditional granite building on the outskirts of Penzance. It is a short walk from the town centre and also the promenade as well as being ideally suited for those wishing to explore the southwest area of Cornwall. We have a great group of locals and also a menu containing fresh homemade food that can be washed down with local ales, lagers & ciders.

"We love our little cabin at the Pirates Inn, we got everything we need, plenty of coffee/tea/hot chocolate, even a mini fridge.  The wifi signal is weak in the cabin but was very strong inside the pub though.  Good food, very clean accommodation ,great location, highly recommended when you are visiting West Cornwall."

"The hotel itself catered for our specific needs, nice big room, warm, lovely bed, hot shower, tea, coffee, biscuits in room. Swimming pool and gym on-site which were fab. The hotel is a typical seaside hotel, dated and could use a paint job and windows need a clean but this didn't bother us. Breakfast was lovely, your usual help yourself to cereal, toast, croissant, jam, butter, yogurt, fruits etc plus you can request a hot breakfast e.g. fry up, eggs benedict etc. The hotel is right on the seafront, about a 10min walk from Falmouth Town station and 20min walk into town. Staff were helpful and friendly."

"Lovely place and great staff. Sadly, you can hear every word of the neighbouring rooms conversations at night. Oh and near £8 for a pint of an ale or £18 for a cocktail in Cornwall is absurd."

"A mixed experience. We booked for the pool facilities, which were great. We ate in the restaurant on our first evening - excellent food and very good service. The breakfast was good too. Some buts, though. Our room had a very uncomfortable bed, a strange electrical light show from some devices in the ceiling once we turned the lights out and a repeated electrical buzzing sound all through the night which disrupted our sleep. The staff moved us to a much more comfortable room on the second night. The floors upstairs were so bouncy that it felt like the hotel must have the underlying structure of a rickety prefab - very odd and a little unsettling. And the restaurant had no character at all - an almost sterile feel. All a bit odd. While the pool, the food and the service really were great, and the many golfers who visited were clearly delighted, some of the spaces do need a refurb and a rethink."

AAnonymous UserI recently stayed at The St Ives Bay Hotel and had a pleasant experience. The hotel has a lovely vintage charm that gives it a unique character. I was happy to find that, despite the classic style, the rooms were well-equipped with modern essentials like a heater and a fan, which kept the temperature very comfortable. It was also a big plus that the hotel has a lift, making it very easy to move around with luggage. Overall, it’s a charming place to stay with great facilities

Great
GGuest UserOk I'll start with positives. The location is literally adjacent to St Ives railway station and the beach so if you don't like walking the hotel is great for this. Hotel itself is on a steep hill, walking downhill to the main port/shops is about 5/10mins. Now the hotel. First impression of reception desk is great, looks clean and new and the reception staff were very friendly but then it went downhill from there. The ”luggage storage” room was a room that anyone could access particularly with the back door of the room wide open to the back of the hotel and yard. So i would be concerned leaving anything valuable. Our room was 313 on the third floor. Ridiculously warm with a basic tower fan for cooling, there was tea and coffee facilities that were good. The standard quality of the room was poor. Bedding was poor quality very uncomfortable only one pillow..if you could call it that. I would advise management to supervise housekeeping more and do room checks as the cleanliness was poor. As you entered you were greeted by a weird smell of damp. The view of the one window was great of the sea and beach but marred by the dirty seagull poop window and worn mouldy window frame, dirty dust on the sill. It's not hard to clean a window and window frame or get a maintenance person to reseal the edges of the window or put a temporary rubber sealant till a new window frame is fitted. The bath tub panel had a crack hole in it which could cause a cut if I wasn't carefully paying attention and a used soap in the shower. Orange yellowing in the grouting around the bath/shower. Limescale bathroom foam spray helps with this. This room desperately needs to be refurbished or renovated. I highly recommend watching Four in a bed or The Hotel Inspector in how to manage your rooms. The other room was room 11? backed onto the courtyard. A little better high ceilings, airy and cool looked like it had a repaint but again the shower room had a strong smell of urine. Other than that reception desk staff friendly, when mentioned the urine smell they got housekeeping to clean again, just a shame it takes other team members to slack somewhat on housekeeping and let the team down. More supervision is required. More maintenance. Look don't be put off by this review like I said location is great. Just be really specific with your room choice ie, renovated room-show photos you've seen on website so you know what room you're getting.

GGuest UserThe hotel itself was a great experience and we did enjoy the novelty of staying in the prison which I would recommend to anyone. Upon arrival we were welcome by the team but very basic information was given, leading to us missing a tour of the hotel which we were told was included in the price. The manager then offered for one of the team to do a later tour for just the two of us which was cut short, very awkward and definitely not worth the money paid for. If we had been advised of the tour with the bigger group when checking in we may have had a better experience. We decided to book dinner at the chapel to experience it as much as we could but dinner was poor. We had to wait for our table, 3 different people asked for our name before we sat down and then again a fourth person checked once we were sat down. With minimal staff on the service was poor to say the least and The burger ordered was pretty much raw, I did not finish it. Once we had finished no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or to look at a dessert menu. We left the restaurant with no one even there working! Not sure where the team had disappeared to. Breakfast was good and would recommend it.

OOlly reviewsKing Arthur’s Arms is fabulously located next to a huge car park, yet on Fore Street, which is the Main Street running through Tintagel and about 3 minutes walk to the top of the hill leading down to English Heritage’s Tintagel Castle. On arrival we were checked in at the bar by Jess with a very friendly Cornish welcome. The smell of cleanliness emerged us as we walked up to our huge room with double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, easy chairs and huge bathroom with double walk in shower, sink, toilet and heated radiator. Huge room for Cornwall and immaculate. We chilled out and wandered along and around Tintagel Castle, then back to the pub for dinner. It’s an extensive menu with huge portions. There was no issue with pub noise and we slept well, waking for an extensive breakfast which commences with a choice of pastries and cereals, then Full English, teas, coffees and juices! We were then able to stay parked for a few hours after check out at 10am to wander around Tintagel. Really cannot recommend King Arthur’s Arms enough and particularly so to single parents with kids-safe, friendly and accommodating and shout out to Jess for super friendly service throughout!

Great for lovely walks with views and sitting and watching the ocean. We stayed in Lowarth which is a self-contained building with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an upstairs kitchen and living area. It was really quiet and comfortable!

GGuest UserA lovely welcome as we were greeted at the Bar by Tommy and shown to our room. We went back to the bar and had a drink. The bar offers a good selection of beer lager and wines. The room was clean and tidy and was great for a short stay. The bed was a double with a mattress that was a little soft for us, however that is because we do have a very firm mattress at home The staff were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately due to our stay being on Sunday and Monday we could take advantage of the restaurant as it was closed for these two evenings but the menu looked very nice. We paid for the breakfast for two mornings at £15 per head per day and it was very good. Yoghurt, fruit, warm croissants and cereals were on the table on arrival and then we were offered a choice of cooked breakfast, either a full english, bacon or sausage sandwiches and Scrambled egg with smoked salmon. We had an issue one morning however this was sorted out to our satisfaction.  We would definitely recommend St Tudy Inn for a short stopover.
