Mizuno Ryokan
4.7/54 Reviews
We splurged and stayed at the Mizuno Ryokan to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We were driving and it took a little while to find it because it is tucked in an alley behind a school. However, well worth the hunt! It is right on the beach with a fabulous view out to offshore islands. The staff is amazing in how they try to cater to your every need. English is spoken but we did a lot of pantomime as well. The food was fantastic; each course was a new experience in how to prepare Japanese cuisine and we enjoyed it all - even the squid that wasn't quite dead yet! All fresh, small portions but so much that we could not have eaten more at the end.
Grand Base Karatsu Ekiminami

4.5 Stay in November 2024|Family parent-child|Comfortable quadruple room The room is very clean, very traditional Japanese tatami room, the room facilities are very complete, suitable for family and children, you can also simple ingredients, the only bad thing is that the check-in procedure is very cumbersome, there is no manual service, it is online, trouble. Will not stay again in the future
Riverside Hotel Karatsu Castle
4.5/546 Reviews
A family like small inn lying besides a quiet seashore and very near to the Karatsu Castle. The Japanese style room was spacious with big windows that you can see a peaceful sea and enjoy a sunset view. The tatami mats were well prepaid that you just spread them out, you could enjoy a comfort sleep. The inn was easly to access to restaurants and shopping malls by within minutes of driving. There was Japanese massage for body near Aeon Shopping Mall where the price is only about 3000 yens per hr., bargaining price in Japan. The breakfast was traditional Japanese style with a bottle of fresh salad, enough for most people. The ladies were helpful that I thank them very much to help taking the luggage suitcase upstair. There are free carparks just at the other side of the road. Highly recommended.
Sea Style Resort Ocean
3.7/58 Reviews
This hotel was a really great surprise. Just a short walk from a JR station the hotel is situated right next to the ocean. You can fall asleep listening to the waves. The bathroom had a separated toilet and a big bathtub. The bed was really comfortable and you also had a few snacks as well as a water heater in the room. The city itself is about an hour walk along the beach or you can just take the train into the city. (just make sure not to miss the last one) When we were there (in October 2019) there was a construction side next to the water but since it seemed temporarily. Maybe ask before booking to get a room away from the construction side (still with ocean view)
Hotel Uohan

The hotel is right by the sea, and the private beach is too big. JR station came out for seven or eight minutes and it was very convenient. Basically, local people came to the beach to play, sailing and skateboarding. After checking out, you can use the car to send you to the station, which is too comfortable. In addition, it is strongly recommended to have breakfast, and breakfast. It is so delicious. Miso soup is much better than that of Michelin.
Karatsu Daiichi Hotel Riviere

Accommodation fee is reasonable (6,200 yen as of 10/9). We highly recommend the breakfast coupon (800 yen including tax) that you purchase at check-in. The seasoning of each item is polite and delicious in a buffet style. If you eat seriously, the empty small plates will pile up like conveyor belt sushi. Personally, I think that ”sea bream chazuke” and ”squid dumpling” are essential choices. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open at night, so you will need to secure your evening meal outside. Also, the large public bath is rather small, so if you like bathing, I think it would be better to use a nearby hot spring. Therefore, I think the best option is hot springs (around Nijo) → eating out → staying (breakfast required).
